Increasing Black Female Representation on Industry Red Carpets
Hi everyone, Thank you for tuning into my article. I have had the honor of gracing numerous industry red carpets, interviewing some of the most legendary Oscar, Grammy, Tony, and Emmy winners. I've spoken with some of the most beloved actors, singers, directors, and writers, and covered press events for major networks. However, during these events, I rarely see women who look like me in the room or even on Zoom. I am immensely thankful for the opportunity to be a journalist. With a degree in media, my journey began in elementary school, reporting on school news. I then joined a theater and TV production company where we produced live TV weekly from our public access cable station. After obtaining my media degree, I went on to write and produce short films on pressing social issues such as bullying, suicide prevention, domestic violence, and HIV awareness. My hard work has been recognized, and I am an award-winning writer and journalist. Throughout my career, I have put in the work, sacrificed, and accomplished a lot while being a mother. Yet, I am acutely aware that many people who look like me are not afforded these same opportunities. This lack of representation is a significant issue that needs to be addressed. I want to call for more Black women to have the chance to obtain the opportunities I am blessed to have.
Tammy ReesePublished 2 days ago in MotivationThe problem with trying to set up boundaries
Lately, I have hit my breaking point. I realize how much that I take from everyone in my life. Living with my family has really forced me to look at my life, at everything that I have to deal with. I think that it is because of everything I am putting up with that forced me to see what I put up with. Always being the 'good child' growing up, it has been put into me that I need to accept it. Don't say anything to ruffle feathers, and take whatever treatment that people give me. It was put into me that I should never say anything negative or against someone. So that I don't upset anyone, so that everyone thinks that everything is fine. I also have been through so much that as long as don't say anything, then I can't be hurt, I can't be put down, I can't be made fun of. So I now see that I have been putting up with whatever people do to me for a long time. Always accepting it.

### The Riverside Bridge Brothers Liam and Owen lived in the peaceful village of Eldenwood, surrounded by thick forests and rolling hills. As distinct as day and night, they were. The older Liam displayed patience and composure. He always read a book with a thoughtful expression on his face. Owen, on the other hand, had a lot of energy and tried hard, always looking for rushes and energy. Despite their differences, the brothers remained close friends. They had lived in a small, cozy cottage built by their late parents by the river. The banks of the river served as their playground and haven. Skip stones, fish, and the future would be the subjects of their endless fantasies. One summer, a severe storm destroyed Eldenwood. The normally tranquil river suddenly became a torrent. The water washed away the old wooden bridge that connected their cottage to the rest of the village. Without the bridge, the brothers were left alone and struggled to live a simple life. Even though it appeared impossible, they were aware that they needed to rebuild it. Owen and Liam decided to work together on the bridge's restoration. To acquire things like wood, they ventured into the woods. As a meticulous individual, Liam was in charge of calculating the necessary plans and measurements. Owen was in charge of the physical labor and used his unstoppable energy to chop wood and move bulky logs. The job was hard and took a long time to finish. Liam's meticulous planning was sometimes hindered by Owen's impatience. "Why is it necessary to measure everything accurately?" Owen would grumble. "Let's just make it and use it for nothing!" "Owen, a strong bridge needs a solid foundation," Liam would calmly respond. If you hurry, it will only become weak." They frequently came to an agreement or disagreement. Every evening, after a long day at work, they would sit by the river to watch the sun set over the water in a golden glow. With their parents, they would discuss their aspirations for the future. They were transported back in time to the moments and love that kept them together. Over the course of the subsequent weeks, the bridge began to take shape. It was evidence of their hard work and cooperation. While installing the final planks, Owen slipped and fell into the river one afternoon. The strong current made it hard for him to stay afloat. Without hesitation, Liam dove into the water. Despite the rapid current, he reached his brother just in time. He was saved by Owen's unwavering efforts. As they lay on the riverbank, gasping for air, their hearts raced. Owen's focus was on Liam, who was crying. "You saved my life," he said softly. Liam grinned with his own sparkling eyes. We are brothers, Owen. We will always support one another." The bridge is sturdy and unmoving when it is finished. Eldenwood residents lauded the brothers' achievements and perseverance. The bridge became a village symbol of community and perseverance. They would take their children to the river and tell them about the bridge after Liam and Owen had their own families a few years later. They would discuss the importance of brotherhood and the lessons they had learned about cooperation and patience. In the end, the bridge was more than just a building; it was also a symbol of the strong bond between two brothers who, despite their differences, had created something beautiful together. Eldenwood residents would be captivated by the story of Liam and Owen and their river bridge for as long as the river continued to flow.

Stephen LeglerPublished 4 days ago in MotivationIKEA vs Solopreneur
On a lazy Sunday morning a couple weeks ago I decided to visit IKEA. As I sat eating my very cheap but delicious breakfast of eggs, potatoes, and bacon for under $5.00 I began to chuckle to myself. If you didn’t know this about me, I am an IKEA aficionado, dare I say a savant at putting together IKEA furniture. It dawned on me as I walked through the IKEA warehouse checking out the new kitchen layouts that being a boot strapped startup (in other words, broke) and putting together IKEA furniture has a lot of similarities. I really do miss the brochures that came out every year, but I digress.

In my early twenties I moved to Las Vegas. I wanted to work in convention and hotel sales and was young, eager and talented. There were thousands of options in Vegas so I knew finding a job wouldn’t be difficult. I applied at several properties but had already fallen in love with an upscale boutique hotel. My first experience with the hotel had been several months prior when the man I was dating took me for drinks and dinner. We pulled into the hotel valet and were immediately surrounded by men in suits, polished shoes and whistles. One opened my door greeting me gently while another opened my partner’s welcoming us to their property. I was whisked from the vehicle to large solid wooden doors that stood nearly 12 feet tall. A doorman nodded with a polite “Good evening” while opening the giant doors and my gaze fell into a lobby of exquisite luxury. The archways, molding, tile, furniture and view were magnificently dripping with beautiful floral arrangements. It was a space of absolute beauty; not an item out of place. I felt like a queen and made my way through the space soaking in its opulence. When it came time to move and begin my job search I longed to work amongst the beauty I had experienced that evening.
