Clothilde
We were cut from the same cloth – but she turned herself into pants, whereas I went for a long skirt. I didn't come with a manual. I was a tomboy from the beginning, and was not shy about demanding equality in treatment. Boys don't need to wear shirts, why should I? Does summer heat hit boys harder? No, I will NOT help wash dishes after Thanksgiving when all the men are sitting on their butts watching football instead of cleaning up for the women who made the meal! Why can't I learn how to work on a car, are these esoteric mysteries only available on the Y chromosome?

Damnatio Memoriae
I knew I was in trouble the moment I approached Asgard. I didn't get there the normal way. Death makes a few things very clear, and one is this: if you choose to strip off all that armor that you died in, you become light as a feather. You don't need the sword, the shield, the spear, the hauberk, the spells to travel. You can take them off, and suddenly you can fly.

Present Tense
I didn't know what to expect when I walked into the room. Police were everywhere. Cases were smashed, and pieces of shattered reinforced plastic were scattered on the marble floor. I silently mourned the loss – of so many hours, arranging the display, the supports, focusing the lights, carefully crafting those boxes to protect the priceless artifacts for display. No longer made of glass, but just as protective, I still had to make my way gingerly over the flinders to stand beside the museum director. I'd touched the artifacts last, so therefore I was summoned in my slippers to account for it all.

My cousin is awesome. I would say she's like a younger me, but glittering generalities in the genetics department only get you so far. She's kind of like me, but more like an alternate me who's taking other paths in life. My life has also been awesome so far, like hers, but... differently. Other paths in life, paths where I chose differently, paths where Life took me for a left-hand turn in Albuquerque.
