IT WAS ALL FUN AND GAMES
IT’S ALL FUN AND GAMES Until it wasn’t ! ! ! We were playing checkers. What a fun game. At least I thought so when I was eight years old. My older brother (by three years) taught me how to play and, being the older and often compassionate sibling, allowed me to win – at least until I fully understood how to play.

MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE
MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE Where did it come from? ??????????????????? We have always enjoyed our fishing excursions. Being avid anglers, my husband and I spend as much time as possible in our boat holding our beloved rods and reels while waiting for a fish to grab our bait and try to run away with it.

WAKING UP
WAKING UP … to what … ^^^^^^^^^^^ It was still fairly dark when her eyes opened. She listened and heard nothing. Instinctively, her arm reached to the other side of the bed. Cold. Cold and empty. Just like yesterday. And the day before. And how many days before that, she wondered. She stopped counting the days. Amelia wondered if she’d ever get used to sleeping alone, eating alone – just being alone.

I HEARD HER SCREAM
I HEARD HER SCREAM ..was that a shot?.. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ When I was a preteen, my family and I lived in a three-family apartment building. Back then, you’d swear the walls were made of paper. If your neighbor, on either floor (it was a three-family walk-up) sneezed, you’d often, without thinking and very instinctively, say, “Bless you.” Just as quickly, you’d hear a “Thank you” in return.

THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE WATER
THERE’S SOMETHING IN THE WATER You Never Know What You’re Going to See Being born under the sign of Taurus, I am under the influence of the earthly elements: water, fire, air, and naturally, earth. Even now as a senior citizen, I love having my windows open to allow the fresh air to filter in the house while a small stack of wood crackles in the fireplace and I listen to the roar of thunder as the sky dumps down buckets of rain to dampen the soil. There is just something magically special about nature.

SO MANY PAINTINGSTop Story - March 2024
SO MANY PAINTINGS Psst! * * There were times, many times I wished I had the opportunity and financial ability to go to college and study art. Not to draw. No! I’m lucky I can mix red and blue and come up with purple. I’m lucky I can draw two parallel lines and have them look somewhat equal. What I would have loved to have studied were the artists and their creations. What were their inspirations? Where did they get their ideas? What made them choose one idea over another?
