I'll Make This Moment Mine
Like many of you, I am a night owl. In my early days as a poet, my most inspired moments were around 3 a.m. (There is a scientific explanation for this. Apparently, it has to do with the prefrontal cortex—the part of the brain involved in things like concentration, planning, rewards, and working memory. When we are tired and supposed to go to bed, the prefrontal cortex becomes less active. In turn, other parts of the brain have more free rein to do their things, which includes unleashed creativity! If you want more info on this, you can read this article.)

Last Night
I started my artistic career in 2005. My first love was poetry and I wrote numerous poems for the first five years. While I prefer my current style, because it is the result of growth and is influenced by my other passions (photography, haiku, artistic projects with other artists, etc.), I still re-read my old pieces once a while. But I do it with a twist: I pretend I am one of my own readers. This removes the potential for self-criticism and makes the process a lot more enjoyable.

Reader Engagement: A Short Introduction
How long have you been blogging? Do you remember when you started? I am sure that, like me, you were in the throes of lack of reader engagement. It took me years of research, experiments, trials and errors, shares on social media, and comments on other people's blogs, to learn how to create content that triggers positive reactions from my ideal readers.

Tactics vs. Strategy: A Very Simple Introduction
In the last two years, I have had the opportunity to chat with many struggling writers and authors. These conversations have confirmed something that I have known for a very long time: An increasing number of authors and writers struggle to promote themselves successfully because they do not know their audiences. They have no clue who their ideal readers are.

Sixku 1
The Sixku is a poetry form that I invented in 2019. Sixku (pronounce ‘sis-ku’) are six-word, untitled poems based on the Haiku. Each piece must be inspired by and contain a photograph and include a reference (even implicit) to nature. For example: season, weather, month, time of the day, etc.
