Disquiet in the Night
It was just another day when Zoe awoke. She rose, brushed her teeth, showered, and dressed for work as usual. Before heading out the door of her loft apartment, she stopped in the small kitchen to enjoy a cup of coffee and a piece of buttered toast. It was while she was sipping her coffee that she remembered the dream – the same dream once again.

The air hangs hot and humid, reaching nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Sweat trickles beneath your clothing as you move along the pathways. Whispers of long silenced echoes lift in the occasional breeze, surrounding you with an eerie sense of something other worldly, foreboding and long lost. Dust particles stir to settle in your lungs with each breath and step you take beneath the intertwined tree limbs hanging just overhead; they provide relief - momentary shelter from the sun’s rays. Each movement, each stir of dust leads you one step closer to whatever beckons. Not knowing exactly what you will find ahead, you still obey the summons. It's that for which you traveled one hundred miles inland.

The Leaf
Every step is strategically placed as she makes her way across the ice. The pond’s been frozen solid for well over a month. Glancing up at shadowed skies, she sees delicate snowflakes beginning to fall. Despite wearing heavy layers and boots against the cold, she’s freezing. Will spring never arrive?

The Earring
How can I find the words to describe it? It was infinitely worth millions, an enlightenment in an otherwise ordinary world. It was an escape into fantasy and an abundance of memories derived from the unimaginable realm of another reality, an experience unlike any other. It was thus, my unexpected journey began.
