Writer's Block

A poem after a year long hiatus.

Do not run away from those moments.

Those moments you feel that ethereal current at the tips of your fingers.

The current that calls on you to click clack away at the keys of a typewriter.

Calls on you to create magical mountains and valleys, and stormy seas that beat on castle towers.

Whole worlds composed of ink and paper.

Yet, you run from those moments.

The stories within feel unworthy.

The tender seedlings you cultivated - smashed by the hail of expectations.

Expectations that howl in your worst critic’s voice.

BE GREAT OR BE NOTHING AT ALL.

BE GREAT OR BE NOTHING AT ALL.

Be great…. or be nothing…at all.

And so, the typewriter remains untouched.

Because you can’t fail if you don’t start.

About the Creator

Daniela Alejandra

Life's a journey and I don't have map.

I long to create worlds like the ones I would read about under the blankets late at night.

Magical realism.
