The Language of Silence.

_________By Aranna Hasan Delwar

Tears roll down like dust from clouds,

Feels like some words were lost in silence.

Words searched for each other like river Alaknanda,

Does the poet know the hopes of the crowd?

Words stand like pillars in their place,

Hiding secretly what they have to say.

A silent cry travels from mouth to mouth,

Yet does it leave any trace on paper?

Writing is like a piece of cloud,

Which crashes on the shore and then flies away.

In which words was love, and in which was lament,

Can the poet tell which gets lost where?

In deep silence, poetry is hidden,

Words make noise without truly understanding.

Does the poet know which words come out,

And where do the unspoken thoughts return?

How many words were unspoken, how many tears were shed,

Does the poet ever know where it ends?

Words flow down the surface of the heart,

Yet do they see inside the mind?

Tears speak drop by drop,

In a language that perhaps is not understood.

In which words does the poet pour his heart,

And where does the language of silence hide?
