This is very insightful, Lamar. This is the second Senryu I have read today from the mundane object challenge that made me think! How much is too much? Sometimes we let circumstances or others pull us to the breaking point before the pressure forces us to quit or withdraw or reassess. Only then can we bonce back and start again!
I like how you used elastic to measure how much a person can take to bounce back

Artfully executed! I used to resent the mandatory brevity of the haiku and related forms; I now recognize how purely they distill meaning, as this senryu does!
