For my mother -- RIP

I have your black iron skillets

and a bamboo plant to remember you by,

*

along with these memories of friendship and

love between a mother and her son.

*

We gave you care and attention to which

you were unaccustomed,

*

and you didn’t always know how to handle that.

Your trauma ran deep. We see that now.

*

You’ve moved on to the Great Beyond, part of

the Oversoul, the Swirl of consciousness that is All Things.

*

Your suffering has ended. For that I am grateful.

Find your twin, lost so long ago, and run free together once again.
