DOOL former cast return to honor Bill Hayes

TV Insider reports that three Days of Our Lives fan favorites will return in November for the tribute episode for Bill Hayes, who played Doug Williams. Kristen Alfonso says she is excited to portray Hope Williams Brady again, but taping was bittersweet. She shared that there was a script in the works where she would have scenes with her TV dad again, but it did not materialize before Hayes's death.

Also returning are Brandon Beemer (Shawn Douglas Brady) and Victoria Konefal (Ciara Brady Weston). Nothing has been said about Robert Scott Wilson (Alex Kiriakis) reprising his role as Ben Weston. It was revealed last week that Melissa Reeves and Matthew Ashford will return as Jennifer and Jack Devereaux.

What about Peter Reckel?

When asked about Peter Reckel (Bo Brady), Alfonso said, "Don't give up hope." Bo is recovering from being shot by his son, but he is still unconscious. He may have a miracle recovery later unless he is taping now and DOOL keeps it quiet.

Some viewers say they felt cheated because there was never a real Bo and Hope reunion. P Now that Albert Alarr is no longer working on the soap perhaps the reunion may come. Reckel addressed the rumors of Alarr's alleged toxic regime and said he hoped Days of Our Lives would return to being a family show.

Dark Days of Albert Alarr

During Alarr's time running things, there were episodes that fans said looked like soft porn. Many characters were shown in states of undress, and Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) and Dimitri Vonlouchener (Peter Porte) were in sex scenes practically every time they were together.

Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfetay) was always in lingerie or sitting with her legs spread, and fans were wondering how long this would go on. Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) agreed to a threesome with Alex and Allie Horton ( Lindsay Arnold). Many fans said this was too much and not the Days of the past. Now that Alarr is gone, things have been toned down a lot.

Will other DOOL cast return?

Now that Beemer has been confirmed, fans will wonder if Martha Madison will reprise her role as Bell Black Brady. Nothing has been said about her at this point. As November nears, there will probably be announcements of additional former cast members who will return.

Two fan favorites are Julie's grandson Eli Grant and his wife Lani, who are portrayed by Lamon Archey and Sal Stowers. They made a visit to Salem when Paula Price Carver was having surgery so perhaps they will come back again.

Alfonso referred to her TV dad as "Billy" and said working with him was easy because she was comfortable with him and felt like he was really her father. Nothing has been said regarding how Doug will die onscreen, but his last scenes were in the aftermath of the Horton house fire, and they were powerful, considering the actor was 98.

Bill Hayes was a true professional, right until the end, and fans loved him for it. Days of Our Lives viewers should be on the lookout for updates related to the episodes that celebrate Hayes's legacy character. They are certain to be emotional, full of flashbacks, and bring back many fond memories.

It will certainly seem like old times when the former cast members return to Salem and are on screen together once more. Days execs are to be commended for allowing Doug to remain on screen for as long as his portrayer was able to perform and remember his lines.
