She was prepped for surgery. A simple surgery procedure, removing the cataract from her left eye, but she was extremely nervous too.
This surgery would be performed under a local anaesthetic, but in the past she found local anaesthetic did not work on her.
Sure enough, she had every reason to be concerned because as they performed today’s surgery, she felt every blade cut, every laser burn and had to grit her teeth, fist her hands and swallow her painful screams.
She toughed it out because she was desperate to have that cataract removed — and she needed it removed TODAY!
This drabble has been written as part of the daily Drabble Drop challenge and today's random word, that must be included in the drabble, is 'cataract'.
Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :
A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

She is soooo brave! I'm so terrified when it comes to eyes. I don't even use eyeliner, mascara or contact lenses because of that hahahaha. I aspire to be her!
