Anna was 6 the winter her mother took her to visit cousins in Siberia. It took them two days by train and a horse cart to get to the cousins’ house. It was big, with many rooms, and 7 kid cousins aged between 5 and 13. They were rowdy and wild, Anna thought.
When Anna asked the older cousin Tanya where the bathroom was, Tanya snorted laughing, “Outside, but it’s so cold, you’ll freeze your bum out. Follow me!” She led Anna to a small anteroom with a metal bucket filled with water. “It’s so it doesn’t stink. You need to pee or…?” Tanya asked. “Just to pee,” Anna said, embarrassed.
“Go ahead, I’ll watch out for the boys,” Tanya said. “Careful, don’t fall into the bucket, big city girl!”
“What if I need to…?” Anna asked shyly.
“You hold it and go to the outhouse tomorrow!”
When Anna was done, Tanya checked the bucket and said, “It’s getting full. Let’s grab our coats, I’ll show you something!” They both put on their hats and coats, and Tanya gave Anna a pair of big felt boots called valenki, “Put these on!”
They went outside, with Tanya carrying the pee bucket. “Watch this!” Tanya said and threw the bucket contents out and up. It immediately froze, sparking in the moon light like yellow gemstones. Some of it landed on Anna’s coat and she started to cry.
“Boohoo, just shake it off before it melts!” Tanya said heading back to the house.

Time for #2
This is the second article on my review of the ideas in The Four Agreements. Here's the first article: I knew that I'd move forward with this series, but I put it off as Agreement #2 is a big stumbling block for me. I'd like to say I decided to get out of my own way and thus wrote this, but that isn't the truth. (Since Agreement #1 is to Be Impeccable with Your Word I surely need to own up to that)
