Budget Friendly Skincare
Let me start off by saying that I have FINALLY perfected my skincare routine based on the seasons. I don't know about you guys but each season I find myself reaching for a different products and I have decided to share those products with all of you! For a little background my skin type is extremely dry during the Fall & Winter months. Between the cold air and the wind I find my skin becomes extremely flaky and dull. During the Spring & Summer months I find my skin extremely oily & red. My makeup simply starts to fall right off my face almost immediately after I put it on. (I have also found my favorite make up brands but that's for a different time). In the article I will discuss the following:

Embracing my ethnicity Styling my hair is therapeutic and restorative. It is a feeling of peace and tranquillity that stays within my body while I am creating a masterpiece on my head. My hair styling journey did not start as a mindfulness practice, it was a useless attempt to tame my hair and conceal my blackness to look like the hair models on the shampoo bottle in my bathroom, who had long, straight, silky hair.
Alessia MavakalaPublished 3 years ago in BlushThe Destructive Nature of Beauty Filters
The existence of Instagram and social media filters has redefined beauty standards across the world. Their existence, whilst meant to be fun has now become something that is harmful and unhealthy. Social media filters are so popular that they have even led to the development of mobile applications dedicated to altering the human face in the very same way filters do. However, their purpose is to make it easier for just about anyone to do this and make it less detectable. Their continued growth and success is a show of their demand, with competitors aiming to outdo one another and push the bounds of what artificial intelligence can do to ensure that the beauty standard is achieved even if it is just in digital form. With celebrities scattered across Instagram, many utilize these filters along with influencers and millions are exposed to this standard without being aware of the deceit behind it.

Happiness. That sweet emotion can sometimes be tied to physical things, but more often than not, that type of happiness doesn’t have a lasting effect. Over the past year, I have discovered that happiness is not really something I had to struggle for, it kind of just came organically when I allowed it to.

Sharing my story with you takes courage, especially when acne has had such an impact on my life from a pretty early age. It made its debut when I was only 8 years old. At that age it was unusual to have "giant chicken pox" as my classmates liked to call it, on your face. Having oily skin, I particularly got them in my T-zone and did whatever I could to hide them. I would hide them under my crooked home-cut bangs, wear hoods to cover my cheeks, etc. I never had a problem with acne until my friends pointed out I was the only one in the group with it.
Get Glowing: What You (And Your Skin) Need Now!
Flip flops, swimsuits, and sundresses have started to pour into stores, and online shops are sending us emails about them every day. Just one of the signs that summer is quickly approaching, and whether you're planning a vacation to a far-off land or exploring your local restaurants for happy hour, chances are that you'll be spending your summer out and about. After the summer that we had last year, even the biggest introverts are looking forward to getting outside. Even if it's just to lounge on a beach alone with a good book. By the way, it's me. I'm the introvert. So if anyone has any book suggestions I'm wide open.

We are now smack-dab in the middle of Taurus season which ends May 21st this year. Using my Astrology & Skincare advice, the two weeks after Scorpio Full Moon should have been a time to purify our skin, using a product like The Body Shop's Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Mask which specifically removes polluting impurities.

When I think of 1940's fashion and beauty, some of the first things that come to mind are elegant long dresses, red lips, and beautifully styled curls.

I Replaced My Shampoo With This New Hair Wash for 30 Days
Believe it or not, my hair and I have had a very tumultuous relationship. Growing up with these crazy natural curls, I always hated how ‘different’ my hair was- being the only curly girl in my family and in my school. Because of this, I began straightening my hair for special occasions like holidays and school dances which escalated into straightening my curls every day for years! At the same time my naturally blonde hair was looking dull and I began highlighting my hair. As you can imagine, all of this processing and straightening led to so much hair damage! Because of all of the damage I was constantly putting my hair through, it began breaking, and breaking…. and breaking until I was forced to do the ‘big chop’ that is so common for girls with damaged curls. I ended up with chin length hair that looked amazing and healthy, but of course, I didn’t learn my lesson and was still straightening and highlighting my hair.

Why I Swear By Trying A Shampoo-less Haircare Routine
Then you have to use a ton of conditioner to make your hair feel soft and smooth again. Detergents found in shampoo are just stripping your oils. We all despise being mid-wash to realize we're out of conditioner, or going to our local drugstore and contemplate the countless shampoo-conditioner combos that are all shouting the same things.

Why I Won't Go Back To Using Drugstore Shampoo After Using This Detergent-Free Hair Product
You know, the kind that you routinely have to coax into submission with the help of a curler or an extra durable hair band. Throughout my life, I’ve had all the haircuts you can think of: a shoulder-length chop with side-swept bangs, a layered chin-length bob and laidback, flowy waves. I’ve tried most products: hair spray, leave-in conditioner, leave-in everything. But really, years of experience have taught me to just stick with what I know best: a choreography of shampoo and conditioner. Rinse and repeat.
