The Dragon Master's Son 10
Chapter 10 John stood in the Great Hall. It was obviously the Great Hall. It was the largest room in the castle and possibly the biggest room he'd ever seen. A number of the castle servants were clearing the tables and benches to the side of the room and sweeping the floor. Evidently, John had missed breakfast. He'd guessed as much. When he had finally woken, daylight had been streaming into his room through the shuttered window.

Getting love to last, year after year, is an art many fail to master. For some it is the regular exchanging of gift, for others exploring the world together is key. However, whatever you do to keep the spark of passion alive, make sure you do it regularly enough so that the flame is never extinguished.

The Dragon Master's Son 11
Chapter 11 Princess Lujain rode into the clearing and drew up alongside John's horse. Heilbronn followed the princess into the clearing and instinctively threw his gaze in the direction of the boy. John stepped out from behind the tree, which made the princess start.

Perfect Porridge - Microwave Style
There are many distinctive tastes that trigger memories of Scotland. For many it will be Scotch whiskey, with each individual malt evoking a specific Highland stream or Scottish isle. For others, with a yearning for the outdoors and campfire cooking, there is the rich, smoky piece of heaven that is the kipper: ideally for breakfast on toast, crowned with a poached egg. Or maybe, for those with a sweet tooth, a box of shortbread biscuits or even a slab of 'tablet'.

Much Too Young
Hi. I'm recording this on my phone, just in case anything happens. I assume it will be you who will listen to it, Mum, but anyway... I left your flat at 10, as we discussed and I walked to the bus stop. There were only a few people about, but they looked at me really strangely. I wish you'd taken the day off work and come to the interview with me. It would have been far easier. Anyway, there was this old lady at the bus stop, otherwise quite harmless looking but you should have seen the look on her face when I sat on the bench! Honestly, if she could have called the police there and then, I'm pretty sure she would have done. Anyway, she has moved out of the shelter now and just keeps staring at me. So I thought I'd better just record this, just in case. God, I wish you would vaccinate the young people in this city, then there wouldn't be all this hostility.

The Handless Corpse
The Delph was a stone quarry. Years before, it had closed its gates for the final time and the stone cutting had ceased. In one corner of the quarry, a spring had ruptured out of the bedrock and slowly, over the years, the Delph had flooded. Everything had been consumed by the waters: the stone workings and the office building until all that was visible was a placid lake with sheer cliffs on all sides, except for the end where the access road disappeared into the water. Only a solitary telegraph pole and winding wheel breaking the surface, hinted at what actually lay in the depths beneath.

Nil Poi
2021 saw a new low for the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest. For the first time, the UK got exactly no points from either the national jury vote or the popular vote. However, the real question needs to be: Does coming last in the competition really mean you are a loser?

Teaching Your Children To Cook
My mum can cook. She can cook and bake the most amazing food. And she never kept her four children out of the kitchen: we were brought up in the kitchen, cleaning the pots, cut the vegetables and learning how to feed ourselves.
