How To Store Meat
Meat has always played a pivotal role in our society. It has always been an important source of nutrition around the world. Over the last 50 years, meat production has tripled, creating 5.4 million jobs worldwide. Humans have hunted, farmed, and scavenged animals for meat since the dawn of mankind. It was because of our love for meat that the Neolithic Revolution began with the creation of settlements near animal trails for easy access. Here is some advice on how to store various types of meat.

Smoking Meats
Today marks the start of meat week, and we’ll be looking at one of the most popular preservation methods for it, smoking. The art of smoked meats dates back to the cave dweller times when they accidentally discovered the method when they hung slabs of raw meat next to smokey fires all night. Today, it is hugely popular in the US with clubs, associations, and contests. Professional meat smokers often refer to themselves as Pit Masters. According to them, “All BBQ is smoked, but not a smoked meat is BBQ.” If interested in becoming a Pit Master yourself, here are a few pointers you’ll need to know to buy your first smoker.

Fun Activities
For most families, getting excited about prepping may be difficult. Most people in your family may see it as unnecessary, while the young ones may be scared of the idea that something could go wrong, forcing them to leave everything behind. Others may be so overwhelmed that they don’t know where to get started and often quit before getting their toes wet. Even a little bit of preparedness can make a tremendous difference in a disaster. Here are some fun activities that you can do with your family to encourage them to get into the prepping spirit with you.

Removing Snow
Whether you love it or hate it, eventually you’ll need to remove snow from your walks and driveways. We’ve been doing this every winter for the last 6,000 years when the first snow shovel was created in Russia. Every year, the US is affected by 105 snowstorms that can last 2-5 days each. Snow is when water freezes in the cloud and returns to Earth frozen. This means in order for the snow to build up, the ground needs to be frozen to hold it for at least a couple of days. Winter can last from December to late March each year, sometimes longer. When you are ready to confront the cold, here are some tips you can use to remove snow safely.

Going Shoe Shopping
Shoes are important. They not only protect your feet from injury, but they can also provide you with comfort and support. A shoe is an outer covering for your foot that usually has a sole, heel, and upper part made of a lighter material. On average, Americans will spend $240 each year on this type of footwear. Roughly, that means each person in the country owns four pairs of shoes. In a disaster situation, boots will be the ideal footwear. This is because they can provide your foot with better protection than sneakers can. Here are some tips for buying your first pair of boots.

Important Gun Groups
America loves its guns! Firearms and the USA go hand in hand. 32% of the US population owns at least one firearm, while 10% live in a home with one they don’t own. This causes 6 million firearms to be purchased each year. About three-quarters of gun owners (or 72%) have gotten one for personal protection. People who own a gun, or know of one in the house, tend to have more positive feelings towards them being there. They feel more secure and relaxed. Recently, the country has become divided on whether the Second Amendment should be stricter. These are the groups fighting to prevent these strict laws from happening so that everyone can enjoy the Second Amendment.

Organizing Your Preps
Organizing your preps is very important. Being organized helps in both the short- and long term. By keeping things in order, you can ensure that it will be ready to go when disaster strikes. It can help you save money in the long run by preventing you from overbuying or having your products go bad on you before you can use them. In a crisis, minutes matter, and you don’t want to waste them looking for your supplies. Being disorganized can cause unnecessary stress while attracting dust, mold, and pests. January is National Get Organized (or GO) Month, so here are some easy tips and tricks you can use on your preps for optimum efficiency.

Boo Hoo!
Today is Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year. All that holiday overeating finally caught up to your waistline. The December credit bill has arrived in bright red. It’s time to start getting ready for the upcoming tax season. You’ve realized your New Year’s Resolutions aren’t working out as well as you hoped, and when you look outside, it’s dark and gloomy. No wonder things are depressing. Blue Monday was first published in 2005 by Sky Travel when they noticed their passengers looked sadder than usual. After doing some calculations, they figured out people were most depressed on the third Monday in January, thus creating Blue Monday to raise awareness for this sad time of the year. Instead of being sad, here are some ways in which you can make today a little brighter.

Merry Christmas
Tis' the season to be jolly. Nothing quite makes the holiday season better than gathering around with loved ones over good food and great cheer. Just thinking about the holiday brings back memories of gathering around my grandma’s piano and singing carols until the sunset. Listening to the kids squeal with joy in the morning seeing the presents Santa gave you. Once the holidays are over and the food starts digesting in your stomach you might want to look over these after-Christmas sales to see what you can use to give yourself a prepping edge.
