The Fourth of July
On July 4th 2033, it was a sunny, warm summer day in Richmond,Virginia. I was sitting in my living room having a cup of my homegrown tea spiked with a tad of mountain whiskey with my former beloved husband Joe. Watching the news because at this point in time things were constantly changing in the political world. We wouldn’t go out much anymore. Not since the global attacks that had been occurring unanimously. I think all we did was drink to stay sane, or unperturbed. We were somewhat calm and collected most days. What used to be Independence Day or the the Fourth of July hadn’t been allowed to be celebrated for a few years now since new foreign leadership took over the White House. The time on the television was around 6:05 when suddenly, the power went out. We heard what sounded like screams and explosions on every corner. I ran outside to see what was happening, my husband followed after. A mother ran straight up to me screaming “My baby! My baby! …..My baby is MISSING!!”

Fate Rape
Awhile back Vocal challenged our memories in an official prompt to write about the first story you ever wrote. I started to enter the challenge but never completed my entry because things got busy and time swept me away, but this made me ponder what my first story really ever was.

Flowers to my Funeral Top Story - March 2024
Writers block is clouding my mind these days. I took a break all to return to nothing. So, I decided to write a three line haiku today about the thoughts I’ve been holding captive in that cranial blob that sits in my skull.

WHISPERING WOODS
My name is William Kristof, but people know me as Woody. I live in the little green house on the edge of the river with my Grandfather. Whispering Woods is the name of our village. Mainly because of the legend, whispers of a ghost that tarries here. Many still hear it on long hikes throughout the forest. Campers, hikers, and even the wild teens after the Friday night football game a county over venture out here to let loose. There have been record of the whispers, including myself at times. Most people just come out for the thrill, even the tourists.
