Update — Send me a Photo!

Hey everyone!

I wanted to post an update for my "Send me a Photo!" challenge that I published a couple weeks ago. So here we go!

First, the Google Doc is still available for the next day and a half. I'll close access to it on Sunday night (probably around 9:30 MST), so if you would like to change or add your photo, please make sure to do that well before then. (Sorry for the short notice! This article was stuck for a whole day yesterday!) You can also send me yours through Discord if you're unable to go through Google Docs.

If you have not visited the doc since adding your photo, I have added a disclaimer there about AI images. It is as follows: no AI images will be allowed for this challenge. If you are planning to submit one or have already done so, please know that I will be disqualifying you from part 2. I really don't want to do this, but as the premise is photography only, I just can't allow it. Also because of the nature of the challenge, I will be randomly pairing photos to names. So, if I can't use your photo, there will be an unequal number of names and thus, someone won't be assigned a photo. That's why I will have to disqualify you. But I don't want to! So please replace any AI images with a photograph that you have taken yourself, and all will be well. 😊

Note about the Google Doc: I have restored one photo that seems to have been deleted along with another creator's (which he has since re-added), my own example photo, and the original GD instructions. This happened on December 26th.

This photo was the first one posted, actually, and depicts two little tropical birds. If this was your photo and you deleted it, I apologize! Just didn't want it to stay gone if that wasn't the intention.

Because of this snafu, I recommend everyone check the doc and make sure their photo is still there and that it’s labeled correctly. Please make sure that your name is attached to the photo, at the very least. I will need it in order to pair you to a photo.

As a reminder, these photos should be taken by you, be a photo you're proud to have taken, and be something you don't mind another person writing a story about. Unless you've chatted with me previously, I am expecting all who submit a photo to be on board for the writing part of the challenge! It would suck if these photos don't get used!

On Monday, January 8, I will be posting another article with the full details for the second part of the challenge. This will include general rules and requirements, prize information, photo assignments, and the deadline.
