Through our daily stories, we invite you to find perhaps a catalyst. . a reason. . a calling that will entice you to act upone your desire to visit Costa Rica. And if you're here already, we hope that we assist in opening up a new life for you.

Music Acts as a Fountain of Youth Here in Costa Rica. When the Street Musicians are Sharing Their Talents with All Who Pass By, We All Feel Like Kids Once Again. .

Watching the world go by is one of my favorite things to do when in San Jose. The thousands of people. . of all ages. . scattering and fluttering. . shopping and talking. . carrying and sipping. . a town full of energy, vibrancy & lots of busy people going about their day. Generations gathered together, getting things done and checking off their 'to-do' lists. And this energy brings that much more joy when you turn the corner and you hear music getting louder as you approach a crowd of happy faces.

At first, the rhythm in the air automatically creates a powerful force that demands participation. You find a place in the swarm, look around at all of the heads bobbing, hands moving and toes tapping. . all to the rhythm of the moment. . it's spellbinding and it brings one back to a safe, comfortable place in which we lose ourselves if only for a few minutes. Certainly, the world still continues around us, but we're lost in our own little space and it can't get much better.

What I notice is that many of the older folks really love the street musicians and what they offer to all of them. Being an Expat, the Latin music conjers no memories from an earlier life, but I know that when I have heard a familiar song that I remember from decades ago, it transports me back in time. I am assuming that is what happens to many of the older Ticos and Ticas who are listening. I see on their faces a sense of happiness and joy. . perhaps they are back somewhere in their earlier life, remembering. . reliving. . rebooting the memories of their past. Whatever it is, it is indeed uplifting. I am caught up in their pleasant moments. This is what the street musicians of San Jose do for all of us. And, it is one of the moments that many look forward to each and every day. There is no downside to listening to music. And to those who share their talents with all of us, you are delivering exactly what we need to our, at times, mundain lives.

It's magical to see children dancing, bobbing their heads. . singing along in their own little language. And just a few steps away, the viejos are dancing with as much dedication and determination as the little ones! Music allows us to morph into interactive, living souls. . without any age attached. We don't care how funny we look. . we lose our moment in time without hesitation. The entire world stands still while our body, spirit and soul remind us that when we live life for the moment, everything else stops. . our responsibilities, our deadlines & our daily routines. And it is a wonderful place to be. . we never want it to end and we wish we could feel like this 24 hours a day! Pura Vida. .
