Lahore is known as the city of Gardens and rightly so. Dotted with beautiful gardens all over the city, Lahore provides its inhabitants with a clean and peaceful environment to spend their leisure time with their families.

In addition to the long list of gardens, Lahore also has many other historical sites as well, for you to take your kids on an educational trip. However, in this blog, we will be talking about the many gardens the inhabitants of Lahore can enjoy during their leisure time.

Bagh-e-Jinnah

The garden spans over a huge area of 141 acres, containing a botanical garden, Masjid Darul Islam and the awe-inspiring Quaid-e-Azam library. The garden is home to various green spaces and walking tracks, for you to jog around, while your kids play in the garden.

Bagh-e-Jinnah is also home to a multitude of varieties of fruits, vegetables and berries. The garden has 140 different types of shrubs, various creepers and a huge variety of flowers, refreshing you with every breath you take.

Gulshan-e-Iqbal

Gulshan-e-Iqbal translated in English, says, Garden of Iqbal.

Named after the renowned and acclaimed philosopher and poet, Sir Allama Mohammad Iqbal, the park covers a huge area of 67 acres. The park ‘Gulshan-e-Iqbal’ is situated in close proximity to University of Punjab, the park attracts a huge number of crowds at any time of the day.

The park has a huge artificial lake, as well as a mini-zoo to attract the kids. A new playing area and slides were recently added in the park to increase public interest.

Hazuri Bagh

Back in 1813, Ranjit Singh captured the famous Koh-i-Noor Diamond from Shah Shujah of Afghanistan. To celebrate this immense feat, Ranjit Singh had the garden built. Due to this very reason, the place has immense significance for history lovers.

While taking your morning or evening walk around the garden, you can stop and listen to folktales, such as Heer Ranjha or Sassi Punnu from the various storytellers scattered around the park.

Iqbal Park

Maybe one of the most well-known parks in Lahore, the Iqbal Park used to be known as the Minto Park. The reason behind the park being renowned is that within its ground is built the famous Minar-e-Pakistan.

Near the Iqbal Park, are various other significant sites, such as the Badshahi Mosque, Lahore Fort, Mohammad Iqbal’s tomb, Samadhi of Ranjit Singh and the famous Roshnai Gate.

Lahore Wildlife Park

Located on the Safari Road, the Lahore Wildlife Park is another such locations that attract the tourists and citizens alike. This government funded facility was inaugurated in 1981 and covers an area of around 242 acres.

A huge walkthrough aviary was added to the wildlife park in 2004. Boating and fishing facilities were built near the lake to add to the enjoyment of the families visiting. This lake happens to be the biggest lake in the city of gardens.

The Lahore Wildlife park includes a zoo, so that your kids can enjoy while you rest in the garden. The list of wildlife in the park is quite long, and includes an Indian Peafowl, an Ostrich, an Emu, a Common Pheasant, a pair of lions, a Nilgai, and a Silver Pheasant.

Within the grounds, a Safari track is also present. This track covers an area of 80 acres and includes Lion and Bengal Tiger within the bounds. The zoo has some of the most amazing displays of animals and aves.

As the park is quite huge, the management has the facilities of pony rides and Baghi rides to help the visitors get from one point to other.

Lahore Wildlife Park is situated 13 Km away from the motorway link on the Multan Road. So if you are an animal lover and love to spot birds, Lahore Wildlife Park is the place to visit.
