When John Glenn rocketed into space, the scientists at NASA were not sure he would ever return. A sad lesson learned later by the space shuttle Columbia, things burn up on reentry. The proper term for this is friction entropy. And while I have yet to go to space or have any scientific background it is a phenomenon that I understand when it comes to travel.
