Esjaadeh decides to take a flight to Iran to see the nature side of the country to explore the wild side of Iran. She does enjoy the city life but wants to understand the Persian culture more on the natural side. She meets a woman who is on the same flight as her and is sitting next to her. The woman notices Esjaadeh writing in her lined notebook. The woman asked what inspires her because she is writing in her moleskine notebook, which is black. The woman has been writing her observations and what has inspired her. The woman and Esjaadeh have this conversation about what inspires them. Esjaadeh asks the woman’s name and she says, “Avalie. And you are…?” “I’m Esjaadeh” “Pleasure to meet you Esjaadeh.” “Thank you Avalie.” Avalie notices that Esjaadeh doesn’t draw nor add any photos to lined notebook. “Do you ever draw your inspiration or what you observe?” Avalie asks. “I think about it all the time, but I’m not the best artist when it comes to drawing or doodles.” “Would you like my notebook?” Avalie questions to her. Avalie doesn’t tell Esjaadeh that it is full of surprises. She gives a subtle hint, “This will help you be a stronger artist.” Esjaadeh is puzzled and has a questionable look on her face. She takes the black moleskine notebook from Avalie.

They arrive in Tehran, Iran at the Mehrabad airport. They had traveled from California, USA. Esjaadeh traveled light for the trip: She packed her phone and her camera in her backpack. She takes a car to the Kavir National Park, which is almost a four hour drive. She travels there alone as she normally does. She had brought water with her to stay hydrated. When she arrives at the national park, she brings everything her, including the black moleskine notebook that Avalie gave her. She gets out of the car and takes off her jacket to sit on the ground, by the car. It is almost sunset, and she begins to write. She writes about her observations: what sees and what she hears. She observes the shrubs nearby, the sound of birds in the distance, and the haze. It is not very hazy at the desert, but she can still see miles of desert land. She notices people riding on camels and Arabian horses.

She notices that it is sunset and that it will be nightfall soon. She has a magic pen with her that changes colors whenever she writes, and it depends on the pressure she uses on the paper and the temperature. She begins to write something different in the notebook and gets a tingling sensation. She doesn’t identify it specifically; bur she has an idea of what it is: the words are motivating and inspiring. She writes a little more as the sun goes down and the sky becomes nightfall. She can see the stars in the sky and the constellations. The tingling sensation is gone; however, she feels a little different. This is fear because it is dark outside, and she is alone by her car. As she writes in the notebook, she notices that the cover of the moleskine is changing colors. It is changing colors according to her mood and the temperature outside. The colors are celestial, and the notebook lights up from the colors. She is dumbfounded and goes to writing in her notebook. She doesn’t realize that the cover of the notebook is changing colors until she touches the cover. She writes her thoughts and ponders what just happened in the notebook. When she writes her thoughts on the paper, the words come off the page and becomes glitter and smoke. The smoke is as colorful as her mood according to the color changing cover of the notebook. This only happens when she is personally thinking of her life. However, when she writes her observations, they stay on the page. At first, she is dumbfounded and doesn’t know what to make of this because Avalie didn’t tell her that it was a magic notebook. The glitter and smoke from her thoughts that were in the air tell Esjaadeh there’s a promise of adventure and good thing in life. She is hesitant about this because she is alone with her car in the desert. She draws what sees in the air and it is the colorful smoke and the glimmer in the smoke from the glitter. Her senses are heightened because she is alone, and she doesn’t hear a lot of animals at night except for a few sounds from the rustle in the bushes. She is hesitant and scared because she doesn’t recognize the animals and isn’t sure of what animals that could come towards her or any insects that come towards her. She continues to write her observations as well as her thoughts in the black book. The sky is becoming darker and darker and the constellations in the sky are more visible. She takes her phone out and uses it as flashlight to continue to write. The smoke and glitter rise in the air and the words are coming off the page and there are different messages that tell her about life, such as, “You know you are truly alive when you’re living among lions.” She doesn’t think these quotes are random but thinks they come to her for a reason. She doesn’t know what the meaning is at first. She writes her observations of the quotes and the words stay on the page. Esjaadeh has been seeing the glitter in the smoke for some time and she decides to take a break. It is almost midnight and she goes inside her car and locks the car to sleep until the morning.

Esjaadeh is in REM sleep and thinks about what happened from the previous day. In her dream, it is a similar memory of what happened on the plane with Avalie and the moleskine notebook. She doesn’t hear the conversation in her dream, but she knows it happened. The dream continues to when she takes her car the Kavir National Park. She sees the glitter and the smoke in her dream and everything in her dream feels very real as if she is experiencing it for the first time. She hears rustle in the bushes in her dream and that’s what wakes her up around 5am. She doesn’t wake up in her car but wakes up in her bed in California. She says to herself, “Did I really dreamt that I was in the desert in Iran?” She feels that she was in Iran because of the different wildlife in the desert. The weird part of her waking up was that she still had the black moleskine notebook. She reaches for the notebook on her nightstand and opens the book and notices not only her handwriting, but Avalie’s as well. She has a questionable look on her face. She flips through the pages and glitter drops from the pages of the book. She doesn’t know if it really was a dream or if it really happened in her life. There is no smoke coming from the book, although she notice she drew different colors of smoke in her black moleskine book. She feels puzzled and amazed at the same time.

Esjaadeh thinks this is a precious and a special notebook. She feels she is done with this notebook because it had served her well. Even though it all happened in her dream, the notebook had served her to create a bigger project, something more magical, it will serve her purpose in life. She will write down her plans in another moleskine notebook, but a different color this time. She wants to focus on her plan to create her project that will bring change to her world. She decides to auction off this wonderful notebook because she doesn’t want to give this book to anyone to will take it off her hands. She knows it is worth something. She wants to give this book to someone who will use it to it’s full potential and use it for good. She searches for an auction place in California and drives to Alameda at Michaan’s Auction. She doesn’t know how much it is worth but starts the bidding at $10,000. The host of the auction explains the relevancy and the story of the black moleskine notebook as Esjaadeh had told him. There are people at the silent auction who raise their paddles for $5,000 at a time and a few at $2,000 at a time. There is one person who wants to remain anonymous who gets to the bidding price of $20,000. It is sold for $20k. The auction is over and Esjaadeh use part of the money that is written to her on a check for herself and uses the other part to donate to organizations she cares about.
