A Few Days At Dillons of Whitby

A Perfect Place To Stay In Whitby

An Introduction To Dillons of Whitby

When we stay in Whitby we have two places that we stay at. Dillons, an amazing guest house run by the lively Mat and Craig, and my favourite hotel La Rosa.

But this is about the wonderful Dillons. The first thing I have to say is that Mat and Craig are incredibly welcoming and will give lots of information about what to do and where to go in and around Whitby.

They are dog lovers, are dog lovers, and their spaniels Mabel & Margot enjoy a sneaky cuddle on request from guests, and are very knowledgeable about the whole surrounding area.

Toulouse, Troon, Raj and Zanzibar - Rooms At Dillons of Whitby

Rooms

There are four themed rooms and we tend to stay in Troon which is Caledonian based, but there are three other rooms all themed and luxurious, they are Toulouse, Raj and Zanzibar and you can visit them with Mat and Craig’s descriptions here.

It is perfect and relaxing when you are there, all rooms have showers and Toulouse also further indulges in luxury with a bath as well.

Coffee, Tea, Milk and water are laid on so you can always drink in your room and the TV is state of the art so if you are in your room you can watch what you want.

Dillons was apparently named after a labrador dog owned by the previous building owners but I may be corrected on that. Mat and Craig will be able to tell you about that.

Eating At Dillons of Whitby

The dining room overlooks the amazing Pannett Park and is a wonderful setting to have breakfast. I had tended toward the full Yorkshire breakfast though sometimes going for the vegetarian option, but there are many breakfast options available as you can see here.

As well as your chosen breakfast you can also start with cereal or granola and then have it accompanied by bottomless toast and butter and coffee or tea. I have never walked away hungry, and always left a clean plate.

Their breakfasts are second to none and I never get hungry until tea time, although cake at Sherlocks in Whitby is another temptation I can never resist.

Sleeping At Dillons of Whitby

Their beds are incredibly comfortable and the rooms are quiet and relaxing although you do need to climb stairs to get there but it is a nice walk up with some lovely pictures and artefacts lining the walls.

I did take video of some of Dillons but feel they are a little too amateurish considering how beautifully their website represents Dillons, so I will leave that out for the time being, though I may add at a later date.

Where To Go From Dillons of Whitby

Dillons is a wonderful base to explore the town, and I almost always take a route through the wonderful Pannett Park (I have done a video for that, but I am unaware of anything similar, though I haven’t looked yet).

Whitby is a seaside town and the North Sea is within a fifteen-minute walk through some amazing residential areas and Dillons is a perfect starting point for whatever you want to do.

Most of the restaurants are fish-based for most meals although all tastes are catered for and particular favourites are The Magpie Cafe and Abbey Wharf, but there are other highlights such as The Blitz (second world war nostalgia that grates a bit but the food and service is excellent) .

There is also the excellent Sherlocks for coffee and cake but you are best using Dillons as a perfect base and exploring and enjoying Whitby.

Conclusion on Dillons of Whitby

I would recommend Dillons to anyone. Mat and Craig are perfect hosts, and you will definitely want to return. I certainly do.
