For the lives that we love, and everything that comes with it.
Love, Hate, Peace
Once upon a time, in a small town nestled in the rolling hills, there lived a boy named Yoav. Yoav was a thoughtful boy with a heart full of kindness and an inquisitive mind always looking for answers. But Yoav's home life was far from peaceful. His parents, Rachel and David, seemed to be involved in a constant cycle of arguments and disagreements. Every day Yoav would return from school and get ready for the deafening sound of their arguments echoing through the walls of their humble home. Their screams and tears became the sad echoes of Yoav’s childhood, and made him feel helpless, do nothing and he is lost. He longed for the peaceful, harmonious family life he saw in storybooks and daydreams. One evening, Yoav witnessed another violent exchange between his parents and could no longer bear the burden of their fights. With tears in her eyes, she mustered the courage to go to her parents and express her grief. "Why are you fighting like that? Can't we find a way to make things better?" Yoav pleaded, his voice trembling. Unmoved by Yoav's words, his parents paused. As if at last her innocent entreaties had torn their hearts, and roused their thoughts to the strain their constant warfare had inflicted on their son, Rachel and David looked at each other, and they saw the look in their son's eyes. Taking a deep breath, Rachel fell to her knees and hugged Yoav tightly. "We're so sorry, my sweet Yoav," she whispered, her voice tinged with regret. "We never meant to make you feel this way. We love you more than anything, and we want you to grow up in a home filled with love and happiness." David choked back his own tears and leaned into the kiss. "Your mother is right Yoav. We have lost sight of what really matters. We need to find a way to change things for the better, for all of us.” Since then, Rachel and David have made a heartfelt commitment to put their differences aside and put their child's welfare first. They sought the help of a family counselor, who guided them through the process of healing and understanding. Through open communication and newfound trust, Rachel and David slowly rebuilt their relationship, focusing on respect, empathy, and rehabilitation. Although it was not an easy journey, Yoav saw a remarkable change in his family. Slowly, the echoes of their arguments faded and were replaced with laughter, forgiveness and love. Through the guidance of their mentor, Yoav’s parents have learned to channel their frustrations into constructive conversations, find common ground and learn from their differences Over time, the wounds in their family began to heal, and Yoav discovered the joy of parents listening and supporting each other. Their love, once shrouded in conflict, now shone brightly, illuminating her world with warmth and security. Yoav grew up with valuable lessons hidden in his heart. He learned the importance of open communication, empathy and flexibility. As she embarked on her own journey in life, she carried with her the belief that love and understanding could heal even the deepest of wounds. Years later, as a young adult, Yoav reflected on his childhood and realized that the challenges his family faced made him a more compassionate and understanding person and he decided to study psychology to help others navigate their lives difficulties and find comfort in their own struggles . And so, Yoav's story serves as a reminder that even in the midst of darkness, there is always a glimmer of hope, a chance for healing and growth. It teaches us that love and perseverance can triumph over adversity, and that every ending can be the beginning of a beautiful new chapter.

I sit here on my kitchen table, scrambling through my mind across a slide deck of memories left by a man, biologically referred to as 'my father'. Who is this man? Sadly, I don't know at present who he is due to the fact that we left him when I was so young, but my flashbacks are vivid and full of colour, enough to paint an image of him so visceral in my mind's eye.
