Road trips are not without complications. You may be expecting to just jump in your wagon, hit the road, and have a smooth ride. However, this is rarely the case! Although some of the problems we have had have been pretty comical, some have set us back and cost us a chunk of our budget. We absolutely always carry basic tools with us. Spanners, sockets, screwdrivers, trolley jack to name a few. We would certainly recommend to anyone thinking of going on a road trip to do so too. We have even considered carrying with us some basic spare parts.
Having broken down again, we were feeling pretty worse for wear. We were pulled up at the side of a small country road, somewhere in the south of France. However that day, our bad luck seemed to be balanced with an equal amount of good luck. A small red car began to pull up, all faded and battered. It almost looked as if it had stories to tell. We dreaded it. We couldn’t speak a word of French, how are we going to explain our problem? The man stepped out and began to walk towards us. He had a rather daunting look about him, like a man who had seen a lot. The tattoos on his arms were faded and scared, the lines on his face told a story of his life but his eyes were bright. He had a certain kindness in his face. As he approached us he spoke, in a deep Scottish accent.
Every major city in the world has that one well-recognized landmark: the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Empire State Building in New York, the Taj Mahal in Agra, and I'm sure you know the CN Tower in Toronto. Then, there are the smaller, but still famous attractions that follow. For Toronto, there's Royal Ontario Museum, Canada's Wonderland, The Rogers Centre, Casa Loma, and the list goes on. But we never discuss the less popular but invigorating destinations that even locals aren't familiar with. The following locations include some of Toronto's most unique and inviting places.
It doesn't take much to get inspired when you have a bike. I work funny shifts, which means I am often free when others aren't. Last week was no exception, when my Girlfriend and I decided to take a short day trip in search of said inspiration. Her ancestral line is complex and takes in parties from the depths of the Bavarian Forest through to the Clan Douglas. The clan had a stronghold in the Scottish Borders, where they controlled several areas of land. With this in mind we set out to find Morton Castle near Thornhill in Dumfries and Galloway.
My mom started knitting about a year ago. She makes hats. Lots and lots and lots of hats. She kept saying she "wants something to do in her retirement." Sure mom, sounds great. I’d roll my eyes, jokingly call her a grandma, and go back to whatever I was doing.
