The Blind Puppy That Saw Right Through Me
Working in a veterinary hospital means either having such a slow day that you’re detailing kennels and reorganizing cabinets, or so busy you skip lunch and suddenly it’s midnight - there’s no in between. On this particular day, when I noticed a persistent whining noise coming from a kennel in the hospitalization area, it was the latter. It’s literally my job to keep track of everything going on with any patients in the hospital, so I quickly investigated the source of this noise and found a tiny culprit was causing the ear-numbing sound.

Why I Decided to Buy Yet Another Lull Mattress
Earlier this year, I was in the market for a king sized mattress for my master bedroom. I performed my fair share of research on the internet and amongst friends. All of my research kept leading me to Lull, a premium memory foam bed in a box company. From the moment I started sleeping on my Lull Mattress, I fell in love and had the best night's sleep. My Lull regulates my body temperature and cools me down at night. My husband and I no longer toss and turn in the bed and are actually really comfortable. Find out why we loved our experience with Lull so much, that we had to buy another mattress.

What better day to celebrate my return to the 'Cannabis Culture' than on National Weed Day or otherwise just known as 420; which can also designate the time of the day 'pot-smokers' toke up daily. Today I'll be using 420 as the term used to identify with the culture I once belonged to in my youth but left behind for a career as a diver in the United States Navy. Not that returning to the use is anything exciting or any earth-shattering news around here. Especially since I'm just an average middle-aged man that you'll find at any cannabis dispensary in California. There is nothing abnormal or deviant about what I'm doing now. That always hasn't been the case in my lifetime. What follows is my personal story of how my relationship with cannabis has changed over the years, as I aged and it's use has become quasi-legal and socially acceptable here in the United States.

I sighed, pushing my face deeper into the pillow. Lately sleep had been evading me, but tonight was the worst. I had been tossing and turning all night and the most unpleasant part was my husband snoring away next to me.
Lily NielsenPublished 3 years ago in HumansThe Story Of The Crafty Sugar Glider On The Red Bus
''To err is human, to forgive, canine.'' After the passing of my father who left behind a 14 year old Labradoodle, our family thought we were done with pets. Little did we know, we were in for a sugar-y treat.
Me, A Cannabis User
I wanted to start by clarifying that this article wasn't initially going to be about cannabis. The more I think about that, I would probably be lying if I started things out that way, so I'm just going to not do that. It's kind of difficult to pin down exactly what this is about from the outset, actually. Even with a handy outline at the ready, it is far easier to let this become something more like a stream of consciousness than a rigid essay on the merits and risks of cannabis use. The thing is I kind of just want to start writing about pot. I already write about comic books as a day job, and the writing challenges on this platform have been a great way to get the creative juices flowing towards working on my own fiction again. But I could write so much more.

The Station 57 Cat
There was a “meow” coming from somewhere in front of our station. We heard it at random intervals, desperate but also elusive. Two of the Emergency Medical Technicians I work with helped me canvas the area, using whatever meat products we could find in our break room refrigerator as bait. We are situated in a busy area of Brooklyn and there are many feral cats nearby, but none had ever called out to us before.

Cannabis had an amazing evolution in America
If you are like me, you have probably at some point in time wondered how the Cannabis plant which grows naturally in the earth ended up being illegal in the United States. There is a long and dark path to how we got to where we are today. The hemp plant first arrived in this nation in 1545 after it was introduced to Chile. It was basically used for making ropes and came to North America at Port Royal, Acadia in 1606. By 1619, the demand for hemp had increased to the point that the Virginia Assembly passed legislation requiring colonists to grow the crop.

Living in Bremerton, WA you get at least six months of a rainy grey filter on your life. In spring, when the sun finally breaks through the clouds to warm your skin it is magical. All you want to do is spend time outside. The streets, and trails, are suddenly littered with people ready to take on the PNW outdoor lifestyle. People walking, riding their bikes, hanging out with their furry pals, and people eating. There are, admittedly, tons of “mom and pop” local places around town to grab a bite while you are out. Although, none like Crazy Eric’s hamburgers.
Franchessica HannawackerPublished 3 years ago in FeastAn Open Letter to Who I Used to Be
To anyone reading this: This is a letter that I've decided to write to myself at this time last year, when we didn't know what the actual hell COVID-19 was going to bring in the coming months, or how serious this pandemic actually was. I remember that I was super unsure about what the next steps in our lives would be, and I remember just feeling like everything had flipped upside down, and that I just somehow had to deal with it. So, now that I've lived through whatever 2020 was, I wanted to write a letter to myself that I would've loved to have.
Sabrina JamesonPublished 3 years ago in HumansMy Advice After 500 Vocal Stories
This has been four years in the making. When I first joined Vocal in 2017, I didn’t really have an idea how many posts I would make. I wasn’t even sure if I was going to stay on Vocal. I kept having my stories rejected for ‘low quality’ pictures that weren’t the right size, broken links, under 600 words, spelling and grammar and their personal favourite; vocal does not accept religious content. The only work I’ve not been able to publish was a poem was was an open letter to God. Just the mere fact that I’ve mentioned those words is enough to my work to be rejected. I’ve seen it happen to others and it happened to me lots of times. Other than that, I’ve had no problems uploading my writing on Vocal.

Grace lounged on her plush crimson sofa. She absently ate cherries from a bowl on her coffee table, relishing the last fruits of the season. The dark red juices left sweet traces on her full lips as she twirled a stem between her thumb and her forefinger. Her gaze fixed upon the white canvas on the easel in the middle of the room, the easel’s thin wooden legs dividing the room into unequal parts, like the way her mind felt divided and separated and pulled apart.
Rachel Paris WimerPublished 3 years ago in HumansHow to Use Evernote
I’ve been using Evernote for so long, 10 years now, that I had almost forgotten what it was like to be a beginner. Mostly, I wanted to clarify what it was good for and what it wasn’t, so people that hadn’t tried it could evaluate whether it fits their needs. The idea arose from everyone calling it a ‘note-taking app,” including Evernote itself. I intended the article to be a one-off introduction.

The Creative ChimeraPublished 3 years ago in LifehackDoes Every Couple Have a "That's Us" Couple?
Does every couple have a couple they look at and say, "Oh yeah, that's just like us!"? If you read that question and immediately thought of a famous (or not) couple that you compare to you and your partner, I guess that helps get me closer to an answer about how many people do that!
