Speaking Into The Ether
Dear Mummy, You’ve been gone a long time. Far too long in my opinion. But that’s the weird thing about life and death isn’t it? There is not enough time in life; we will always say that we wish we could have longer with our loved ones before they depart. Yet when the time does indeed arrive, the aftermath seems to last far beyond what seems bearable; there is too much time in death. That’s my takeaway from the past 13 years without you anyway.
The Winter Wyrm
“There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Not when the Tree of Fortunes was planted. Not during the reign of the Silvan King. Not even during the elder days when stars and men danced together in the cool of the day. But the Silvan King left these lands long ago, and he took the stars with him.”

Grinding in the dark. It sounds dirty, perhaps even a little enjoyable to some… To most, it may seem like you have something to hide. I’ve had all of the above reactions from my peers and more when I share my view on the subject.
Outrageous OptimismPublished 2 years ago in PsycheDating In My Mid-Twenties
There are many things my adolescent years did not prepare me for as an adult. For instance, how to file my taxes, how to build credit, and how to apply for student loans. Now, I can add one more item to this list - dating.
we heard about it on meeting st.
It is Wednesday, May 25th, 2022, at 9:24 AM. Twenty-four hours haven’t passed since the atrocity in Uvalde, Texas. Twenty-four days haven’t passed since the bloodbath in Buffalo, New York. I see no need to revise, rewrite, or stretch this piece over a collection of days to weeks, and so on. I’m not writing this to submit to any outlet or to impress anyone. And quite honestly, this may be the first time I’ve written anything in response to an event of this scale, or any national, worldwide event at all, really. There was an irritation within my being this morning. From the time I woke up to after I finished showering. And even now, as I’m sitting here, writing this piece. When I heard about the news yesterday, I called a couple of my friends to see if they’d heard about it, as well. It seemed I was a bit late to the party, for lack of a better expression, because I was met with the following:
What Does It Mean to Be Aware, to Understand and To Accept?
Are you aware of this? Awareness implies that you are familiar with the existence of something. It might be a common everyday item, a concept you have heard about at university, or maybe you have come across something while reading your news feed or social media. You might have heard about quantum computing, for example. Unless you are a geek, you probably do not really know what it looks like, where can you find one or how to use it. The tech section at the department store does not offer any yet, and neither do you find it on Amazon. It must be something rare. At least you are aware that there is such kind of invention and that somebody somewhere is using it for something.
Neurodivergent_aiPublished 2 years ago in PsycheThe Harms of Being Labeled a 'Difficult' Patient
Imagine you’ve just been handed a complete copy of your medical records. As you’re skimming it, you find that one of your physicians left a note in your chart stating that you were difficult and non-compliant during one of your appointments. “That can’t be right,” you think as you try to remember what might have gone wrong during that appointment. There was that one time you refused a medication you didn’t feel comfortable taking, or maybe it was the time that you cried because the doctor suggested that it was all in your head… but surely that wasn’t enough to warrant a note like that, right?

Alexandra SousaPublished 2 years ago in MotivationGreat Minds Think Alike: Influential Women Who Have Transformed Science
Over the centuries, an array of bright and influential women have contributed to enhancing our knowledge of illnesses, chemistry, flora and fauna, and the universe. Between 200–400 AD, Greek physician Metrodora wrote On the Diseases and Cures of Women, a medical text detailing revolutionary therapies and surgical techniques. Hypatia of Alexandria, who lived in the late 4th century, led the life of a respected academic, thriving both in mathematics and philosophy. In the hundreds of years to come, many illuminating women have followed suit, dedicating their professional careers to the wonderful world of science.
Adam JohnsonPublished 2 years ago in Earth5 tracks to get ya into Smino
Wild Irish Roses: Such a tone setter. The opening track to his critically acclaimed debut album, "Blkswn" showcases why Smino is such a hot commodity in Rap and Soul. His singing voice is soothing, his bars hit suprisingly hard on this somber, savory instrumental cooked from scratch by frequent collaborator Monte Booker. The cadences that Smino typically uses are unorthodox, unpredictable, unique and suprisingly lush. How he fits certain words and rhymes into these tight pockets is anyone's guess. A trip to go get a pack of backwood cigars never sounded so sultry and sexy. The music video that accompanies this song only adds to the passionate, lushious vibes. This is a must add to any sex playlist for sure.

Home (A place within one’s soul) Is Home in the arms of a loved one? Is home a place that you feel safe? Or Is “Home” the chaos you grew up in?

As I stood at the sink peeling potatoes, my mind raced through the list of tasks to complete before I could even think about going to bed. Making dinner was a chore but one I found relaxing as I watched the girls jump on the trampoline outside the window.

Michele HardyPublished 2 years ago in PoetsA Multiverse of Madness: 5 Things I Loved About Everything Everywhere All At Once
I had no idea the film Everything Everywhere All At Once existed until my husband showed me the trailer, and it promised to be everything I wanted in a movie. For one, it's like those loopy time travel stuff that I really enjoy. And it looked to be equal parts chaotic, dark, weird, funny, action-packed, mind-boggling and thought-provoking, but also emotional and family-centered.
Marie SinadjanPublished 2 years ago in GeeksGrandma, Dostoevsky, and the emotional pull of literature
My grandmother became a Reader in her late 80s, by accident. Her early education in the east of Poland during the third decade of the last century was interrupted by World War II when she finished grade 4. She never went back to school. Moving to Poland’s capital after the war, she took up manual labor right away to make ends meet.

Smile, Say Cheese
Hey Mom! I never told you this before, but I did it. I ate all the cheese you specifically purchased to place on your charcuterie board. You know the one you special ordered straight from Italy? You waited months it seemed, just to try those seven different varieties of aged cheese, and I stole your moment of glory. I didn't intend to eat it all, I just wanted a little nibble of each, and why on earth would they send such small squares of cheese anyways? I mean honestly, if anyone is to blame, it simply must be them for sending such minute sample sizes. Those blocks of cheese, and I use the term "blocks" loosely, were the size of petit fours. I've seen much bigger squares of cheese placed on the ends of traps for house mice or rats. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not making any excuses for my moment of mischief. However, in my defense, I now understand the famous lays motto " betcha can't eat just one". I know this confession is twenty years overdue, but better late than never right? I'm getting way ahead of myself though with this confession , let me start from the beginning.

I have just finished reading a book that resonated so very deeply, I feel totally validated and it explains to me characteristics of myself that I haven’t accepted at all. And tells me why I tend to reject these characteristics.
