A profound letter to a grandfather
My grandfather died when I was two. He committed suicide. Before his passing he wrote a letter to me. This is my open letter to him. He often would leave letters around the house for his children and wife would find when he couldn't find the words. I guess my love for writing started with him.
Ashley ShiflettPublished 2 years ago in PoetsStar Wars Andor Is Upon Us
While there still isn't a lot that we know about the series, it's been described as a taught spy thriller, in space. From what we saw in Star Wars: Rogue One, Diego Luna brings a compelling character to life in the form of the rebellious Cassian Andor. As the series got a second season before we even knew it was headed to a fall premiere, this should be a Star Wars adventure that will leave fans both happy and wanting more.

The origin myth of Randos is as biased as it is complicated. The Elven and Mennic retellings of the story always seem to be skewed toward their gods being the most righteous and true. Through compiling the different tales, though difficult, it’s possible to reach an unbiased conclusion through shared themes in both of their stories. The men seem to believe that they and their gods were wronged by the ancient spirits of elves and their gods while elves portray it all as a misunderstanding. We will try our best to compile both myths to see what we can agree upon in both cultures and hopefully reach some sort of philosophical and theological bedrock.

The wardrobe door scrapes open and there’s an unmistakable crunching sound of drawers being carelessly opened and closed. Jane takes another sip of barely lukewarm coffee and listens to the creak of floorboards overhead as they wander from room to room.
Caroline CravenPublished 2 years ago in FictionDaebak! K-drama is teaching me Hangul
I took Spanish during high school and French in college, and languages confuse me greatly! What tense do I use? Is that a masculine or feminine object? Does the subject go first or last in the sentence? Why does a pronoun have a different verb form than the actual object? I am all mixed up in languages. Then, I decided I wanted to learn Korean/Hangul. It is one of my student’s fault. He said - I think you would like this show that is on Netflix. Hooked at Asian drama, I joined Viki and binge-watched multiple shows.

Even when you leave the borough of Manhattan behind and head into Brooklyn you can still see the incredible Manhattan skyline from many points in Brooklyn. This is the borough where I was born and raised, and often, as I daydream I set off on Brooklyn roads and return there in my mind.
Rasma RaistersPublished 2 years ago in WanderJumping Off the High Dive Board
I’ve never been a great swimmer. I can manage and all, but I never went in for having distance badges sewn onto my trunks, or diving board showboating. As a teenager, I enjoyed frolicking in the shallows, eyeing up girls, and performing illicit bombs when the pool attendant wasn’t looking.

Timberline
The silence is absolute, as if time never began here and never will. How can I describe it? As if a wall of glass has been placed by the great hand of a God in the midst of the forest, and no living thing may pass. The trees crowd against their limit, aching to reach into the barren land, and their longing embitters them. They grow twisted, their bark black and limbs contorted.
Lauren EverdellPublished 2 years ago in HorrorWhy does everybody love Eddie Munson in ‘Stranger Things’ so much?
I know what you’re thinking. It’s not that hard to understand why Eddie is so popular. Like a lot of the characters on Stranger Things and on other shows he has all the telltale characteristics of characters we are often drawn to. He’s super nice and lovable and has memorable and often humorous lines. He’s the type of person we aim to be: he loves himself in all of his eccentricities and he’s comfortable in his own skin. But he also has insecurities and (spoilers ahead) he makes righteous sacrifices. Also, he played some bitchin’ licks. Mystery solved, Sherlock.
Richard FoltzPublished 2 years ago in HorrorSneaking into the Cinema
In the centre of my home town, Blyth, there stands a huge building that was once a cinema, but which, like many of its fellows, is now a pub belonging to a huge national chain. The building had lain derelict for many years, so its refurbishment was welcomed, and an eyesore was transformed.

Imagine a world where you wake up in your penthouse apartment, 90 stories above the ground. It’s homely, modern, and warm against the neon blues that paint the city outside.

Before more male school shooters took over, there wasn't much female shooters or female school shooters. But there was actually was one female school shooter named Brenda Ann Spencer who started shooting at Grover Cleveland Elementary School killing two people and wounded nine in the late 70s. She would later say her reason because she quote:

We're driving down their road now. Anticipation builds in my chest as I pull against my seatbelt to see just a bit further. Soon the backwoods come into view and I know it's just a moment, just a breath, until I see it, Nana & Papa's Farm.

Jamie LeFebvrePublished 2 years ago in JournalWill The Newly Passed Inflation Reduction Act Leads to Higher Inflation
This will result in a possible 3% tax hike for individuals making under $10,000 year, but because the affluent are receiving tax credits, no one seems to mind. The Inflation Reduction Act is well known to raise taxes for everyone; in fact, the Congressional Budget Office and the Joint Committee on Taxation have both come out and said as much.

Holly PheniPublished 2 years ago in PoetsWhat do you buy the best flower girl in the World?
When prepping for our wedding, there was so much to organise; the venue, invitations, dresses, the church, and the list went on. It was a relatively small ceremony and reception, but we really wanted to have my niece and nephew involved as the flower girl and page boy.
14 Unsettling Paintings by Goya That Would Leave You Anxious
"A hag or a witch grins ghoulishly over a bowl of food, an evil-looking figure whispers in the ear of an old man, a drowning dog lost in an unidentifiable mass, and the most disturbing out of them is the demonic figure with wide eyes and swallowing the body of his own child."
