I was delivering packages, halfway through my route as a courier. Parcels slid around the back seat of my car as I turned a tight corner. My phone rang, bah-bah-bah-bah coming through the car speakers.

Viorel SecareanuPublished 2 years ago in MotivationThe Curse & Strength of Being Trans
There is nothing that anyone can say that can make it past the armor I have forged over my lifetime. Anything they might use against me has either already been said, has already been an inner demon I have defeated, or is nothing more than hateful bigotry. Regardless, I have thick skin and have been through far more than most transphobic jackasses have in their shitty lives.

Emma RandyPublished 2 years ago in Vivabeing pregnant as a teen saved my life
To say my childhood was challenging would be an understatement. I lived most of it being told that I was a mistake. That, single-handedly, I ruined the life of the person responsible for my birth by simply existing in this world that they brought me in to by no choice of my own. I wasn't just told, sometimes I was hurt. Transparently, the bruises were just icing on the cake that was all of the emotional damage I carried through the rest of time. The bruises didn't hurt nearly as much as everything else.
EMandKids | AmazingAbigailGracePublished 2 years ago in ConfessionsAdvice to a Nephew
This was a list of advice that I gave to my nephew when he was about to begin high school in the late 2000s. It was in a letter that I never sent, and a part of me regrets that I did not get to at least talk to him about most of these points. I did share some advice in texts and conversations, but I recently found this page in my notes and I thought that it was only fair to share it with the rest of you. Your judgment counts…

I don't typically make a habit of dragging my wife Nicole into these posts. She doesn't exist merely to be a subject of my weird little stories and anecdotes.
Jackson FordPublished 2 years ago in JournalWord count goals can be poison for your creative writing.
I've written a lot of words. Eight novels worth, plus a bunch of short fiction too. Counting words is second nature to me. It's great for reflecting on what you've achieved, after you've achieved it.

Smokey Robinson and The Miracles It was 1966 when 16 year old Stevie Wonder wrote the music for "Tears of a Clown." He then gave the instrumental to Smokey Robinson during the Motown Christmas party that year. He told Smokey that he had a great instrumental, but he couldn't come up with any lyrics.

J. S. WadePublished 2 years ago in PoetsCardi B Returns to Middle School with a Bag, but How Much is Enough?
While it is beautiful for an artist like Cardi B to go back to her middle school with $100,000 in tow, what is the limit? How much (or how little) should artists and other figures in the spotlight give to their previous institutions of learning whether they be elementary schools or universities and everything in between?

The Warmth Between Stars Chapter 1: A Confusion of Bees
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. It’s true, but not the whole truth. A person cannot hear anything in the vacuum of space, no matter the sound. You need instruments like mine to receive and decipher the music of the cosmos. This is a lonely place, the outer reaches of the Kuiper Belt, 4.5 billion miles from Earth. Nothing but cold, dead rocks. Pluto is far behind me, and its beauty feels even farther, the crimson splash across its North Pole like a dusting of confectioner’s sugar. But not confectioner’s sugar. A mixture of frozen methane and nitrogen broken apart by ultraviolet light to form tholin macromolecules. That is the facts, and facts can sometimes ruin beauty, or at least bore it to death. However, the truth about Pluto is that no matter what comprises its surface, it is beautiful. On this journey, I have nothing but time to contemplate things like truth. I have decided that truth in science is relative, but there is undeniable truth in beauty.

Michèle NardelliPublished 2 years ago in PoetsI love comments and community
I was 19 years old and I was crying. I had a window seat on a train travelling through the French countryside; a love affair had ended and it hadn’t been my choice. The gorgeous terrain blurring beyond the window seemed to accentuate my heartbreak; I leaned my head against the glass and let the tears flow.
