It’s a Race.

Why is it called a race when no one else seems to be running? What does the term racist mean? Here is what the internet will tell you, they are people who hate or discriminate against others of a different skin color. Here is what society will tell you, it’s the damn K.K.K and the Nazi Group, and each member of that group is ignorant and for probably the average civilian.

Either way I don’t care because that’s not the real definition. Take it upon yourself, read, listen and find out what you think it is¬, wow that sounds like a mission. The more educated society is the better we can prevent certain things from happening and have the hard conversation that we as a group need to be having. I may speak my mind; I am no logician but a man with great ambition.

So, with that said, I would like to tell my fellow brother to Run! That’s why it’s called a race. Run even though you are in different events, run with grace, run at a different pace and keep those legs moving like you’re heading for space, I know we can’t out run bullets but it is the last sense of real freedom we have. Run fast enough and set a foundation for the generations to come that will be faster and maybe fast enough at winning court cases that will grant those before them that have fallen the justice they deserved. It is up to us to run if we want justice. I mean shit we are known for being damn well good at it. The fastest man on a planet at one point was black.

Anyone can be a lawyer why not us? We can be employers, and it gives a better chance to go from surviving to living. There is such a huge difference in surviving and living. We want to live not survive. Don’t follow the crowd, don’t be the best fan of the Miami Heat and not even play ball, get out of your seat. If you aren’t in school, do something. Anything that can’t prevent the narrative of a dead beat or in just another serial number. If we are known to be runners, lets get better at running and running things. We will never co-exist as equals if we do not start acting like we deserve to be here. The more we let fear dictate our entire existence, the more we fall.

With that said, keep running although you are both starting the same time, and he is running the 100 meters and you are running 100 meters with hurdles and expected to finish before he does. Keep running when you only speak Spanish and it’s hard to learn English as a second language and if you do learn, you know any second Mr. “Speak English! You’re in America now” and Dr. “Go back to where you came from” will be your next-door neighbor one day.

Saying you are part of the drug war, but just do more, keep running even if they don’t give you the right score. Try your hardest to work in that bookstore so you can read until your brain is sore. My brothers, my sisters keep running because those are the genes we have. My definition of a racist, is someone who can’t run as fast as you, who can’t put in as much work as you. The race isn’t over, but the end is near. We have allies, and friends that if we can bring and accept them into our culture can help us not only spread awareness but give us the chance to pursue the happiness that they’re so protective of. An ally named Ashley Muse mentioned something in a conversation that can help people that want to help or be allies understand in depth how to help. She said, “if all you’re doing is clicking two buttons to share a post, to show people you care, I feel its almost disrespectful.” I mean seriously, she was more concerned about doing something in addition to raising awareness. Things like; educating yourself on the matter, talking to local leaders of the community, getting in contact with mayors and/or governors. ALLIES, these are the ways you can help us live and prevent situations we see almost every other month from happening. “don’t try to fit in by re-posting a TRENDY picture or collage, help us inform people that we are running very different races here.”- Ashley Muse.

If it is together then let it be together. Don’t choose a side selfishly because individually the “fear for my life” is coated insecurities you have. The white man always has a neighbor, the black will rep his hood. It will only be a color free world when we have a Neighborhood because you cannot see color in a black and white picture. You can see blue on a white sheet of paper and so can you on a black piece of paper. Let us co-exist because what will happen if we don’t will be utter destruction to stop such a vicious cycle.
