When someone desires to broker peace in a situation, they are said to be extending an olive branch to the person they are at odds with. Now, with only 5 days left until the Presidential Inauguration, Vice President Mike Pence has made a last-minute choice to take the high road and extend an olive branch of sorts to his successor. On Friday, he called VP elect Kamala Harris to congratulate her and offer his assistance during the transition. Pence has also stated that he will be on hand when Joe Biden takes the oath of office on January 20.

This will no doubt anger crazed Trump supporters who DC police officers said were basically foaming at the mouth during the attack on the White House on January 6. At that time a noose was erected and the mob was heard chanting over and over, "Hang Mike Pence." Neither Donald nor Melania Trump has reached out to President elect Joe or Jill Biden and they are not expected to be in attendance during the Inauguration. This is truly a sad day in American history and the world is wstching. Ever since the mob broke into the White House there has been escalating tension in the nation’s capitol.

Some say Mike Pence is offering too little too late while others are thankful he finally decided to come around. Donald Trump is no doubt seething because his VP is not following in his footsteps and being petty. Traditionally, the outgoing president concedes to his opponent and offers congratulations after the election. The VP does the same and their wives reach out to the first and second ladies. This was not done after the 20/20 election and now there is unrest in the land. This will be the fist inauguration in the United States where death threats have been issued against Congress, the sitting Vice President, as well as the President elect and VP elect.

Insurrection will change how the new administration begins and the nation’s is filled with fear and hatred. Kamala Harris and Joe Biden must take their oaths of office under heavy police guard and a White House that is surrounded by fences. In the midst of the chaos, Mike Lindel the My Pillow Guy was seen lurking around the Capitol grounds. There is growing concern hat he and Donald Trump are planning som thing evil. Racist and anti-Semites are coming out of the woodwork and Inauguration Day will take place under heavy armed guards and the shadow of the past week.

In spite of the fact that it took him 2 months to do so, Mike Pence is to be commended because he finally did the right thing. He at least is making the effort in his lane to facilitate the peaceful transition of power. He is doing so at the risk of more death threats for himself and his familiy. Pence is considered as a traitor because he did not overturn the 2020 election. He explained that he had no power to do so, yet Trump upbraided him publicly. This is why the MAGA Mainiacs were calling for his execution. It’s a shame that Donald Trump cannot do the same. Even after the mob attacked the Capitol and 5 people died, the outgoing president and his MAGA maiiniacs are continuing the plot evil.

No thought is being given to the families of those involved and now a historic day will be marred. Kamala Harris will be the first female, and the first woman of color to hold the office of Vice President. She is of Jamaican snd a Indian heritage. Her parents did not descend from American slaves yet most consider Harris a typical African American. Her husband Douglas Emhoff will be the first, Second Gentleman in our nation’s history. This should have a time of great celebration in the nation but instead it’s a time of great sorrow. All because Donald Trump lied that the election was stolen.
