Only Russians and foreign nationals aged 18 to 40 have the right to sign their first military service contract under existing rules, but a draught bill might change that.

A note accompanying the draught bill states, "Highly professional professionals are required to utilise high-precision weaponry and operate armaments and military equipment."

- Fighting in the east –

According to the self-proclaimed commander of the Moscow-backed separatist province of Donetsk, Russian and separatist forces are fighting for full control of the town of Lyman, with half of it already taken.

Lyman is located on the road connecting Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, the capital of the Ukrainian-controlled Donetsk region.

Russia is concentrating its efforts in the eastern Donbas region, which is close to the Russian border and home to pro-Russian separatists, as well as the southern coast.

Separately, the Ukrainian army reports that the town of Svitlodarsk, also in the Donetsk region, is now under Russian control.

- Kharkiv metro reopens –

After months of being used as a bomb bunker, the Kharkiv metro has reopened.

Thousands of citizens have sought refuge in the Kharkiv metro, which has 30 stations, to escape indiscriminate firing on the city, which is located near the Russian border.

- bloggers must be arrested

Michael Nacke and Veronika Belotserkovskaya are accused of undermining the army and its offensive in Ukraine, and a Moscow court has ordered their imprisonment in their absence.

Nacke, a 28-year-old Kremlin critic currently based in Lithuania, runs a YouTube channel with over 700,000 subscribers where he critiques Russia's military activities in Ukraine.

If he returns to Russia, he claims he faces up to ten years in prison, and that his arrest is "part of the huge pressure on journalists and analysts who objectively assess the current war's trajectory."
