Hold Public Speakers Accountable For Their Words

Politicians and preachers are responsible for misleading their followers.

Everyone in the nation listened to the racist, divisive rhetoric of Donald Trump during the 4 years he was president, yet half of the registered voters cast a ballot for him anyway. Trump's hate speech played a part in the rioting on January 6 and many of those who took part admitted it was because of the words of the former president that they acted. Even so, Trump was acquitted of any wrongdoing during the impeachment hearings. As long as we do not hold public figures accountable for their rhetoric, they will continue to say things that cause controversy and lie to our faces.

Politicians and preachers are famous for saying whatever they believe will gain them attention from their followers and keep the support and or money rolling in. Cult members blindly follow their leaders and accept every word from their mouths as the truth. This is how Americans followed Jim Jones from California to Guiana and more than 900 lost their lives when forced to drink cyanide-laced kool-aid. This is a serious matter when so many people are unable to think for themselves and never question anything coming from the mouth of their chosen leader. Cults have charismatic leaders and those who follow do so blindly and miss warning signs. They also attack anyone who tries to point out that they are heading for danger.

Two popular televangelists, Paula White-Cain and Pat Robertson both said they were told (by heavenly authority) that Donald Trump would win reelection, yet he lost. White-Cain even went so far as to pray publicly that African angels would stop anyone who attempted to block Trump's win. Many Americans laughed at this statement but others took it very seriously. It has been reported in several news outlets that Evangelicals ran with the false narrative that the election was stolen because they wanted to be right regarding a second term for Donald Trump. Pushing this lie for personal gain no doubt was responsible for some of the insurrection on January 6 because just like with politicians, those who admire these popular "faith teachers" believe every word that comes out of their mouths.

Recently retired pastor Frederick KC Price passed away from COVID complications and I extend my condolences to his loved ones and church family. His longtime friend, televangelist Kenneth Copeland stated that he did not believe Price would die from COVID. Ken Copeland has millions of followers who hang onto his every word and they were repeating his belief but alas he was wrong. After Fred Price passed away, Copeland backtracked by saying that life goes on without addressing the fact that his public statement was proven to be incorrect.

Ken Copeland will continue teaching his brand of the gospel and his followers will keep listening and sending in their money without asking for any type of accountability. I know some will argue that Ken Copeland did not say without a doubt that his friend would not die from COVID-19 but others immediately caught the implied message. He believed that because Fred Price was his friend and ministry associate that he had some type of special favor where COVID could not touch him.

With all due respect to the Price family, this article is not against them or the life and legacy of their recently departed loved one. It is not my desire to add pain to a grieving family but some issues need to be addressed immediately for the greater good of the people. I am sharing facts that are already in the public that many already are aware of. This article addresses issues and is not a personal attack on anyone. In the above headline, it clearly says that Frederick KC Price succumbed to COVID-19. At this point, close to half a million Americans have died from the coronavirus, and my deepest sympathy to the families left behind. In these cases, it has been acknowledged that COVID-19 complications led to the deaths and no one has said otherwise.

Again, I mean no disrespect but please take note of the wording in the following link, which suggests that Fred Price, unlike others who died from COVID had a choice in the matter and that he "chose" to leave the earth. This misleading statement will cause many people, possibly millions to assume that this man could have beaten the coronavirus but decided he wanted to go to heaven. I am not being insensitive but pointing out how those who have public platforms and millions of followers often change the narrative to put themselves or a situation in a better light.

There were Q-Anon members who said they believed that Donald Trump would not leave the White House and would be in office for a second term. These individuals are now disillusioned because what they were told did not come to pass. There are still Americans who truly believe the election was stolen and that Joe Biden is an illegitimate president. There were even a few Trump supporters from rural areas who were interviewed during the 2020 election who said they still believe Barak Obama was not born in the USA. Donald Trump once half-heartedly acknowledged that his predecessor was a US citizen but he never stated it in a way where his base would believe it to be true.

Sadly, Kenneth Copeland is right that life goes on. Paula White-Cain and Pat Robertson will probably never be called on the carpet for being wrong about Trump winning the 2020 election. They will continue to fleece their flocks and those who expose the lies will be the ones judged harshly. Some Americans will always believe that Joe Biden did not legally win the presidency and that Obama is a Muslim, born outside of the USA. Even sadder is the fact that some will believe that Fred Price did not die from COVID as did close to 500,000 other Americans, but chose his time of death.

All of this because people idolize politicians and preachers and will not hold them accountable when they are wrong. It causes me to reflect upon the 1961 episode of The Twilight Zone titled "It's a Good Life". Billy Mummy portrays a 6-year-old-boy who has the power to rule the town where he lives. He makes people and animals disappear on a whim and creates 3 headed monsters in his back yard. There is one scene where a man cries out that someone needs to do something to end this child's reign of terror but no one makes a move. The few adults left in Peaksville, USA allow one small child to ruin their lives and no one has the courage to stop him.

There need to be more whistleblowers who are not afraid to say that the Emporer is wearing no clothes. United States citizens must seek truth and not allow those in power to furnish their brains and mislead them. If anything in this article has been beneficial to you please leave a tip as every $1.00 means a lot to me. If you have been offended and believe I have been negative and have no right to address these issues that is your right. You may dislike me now but in time you will be glad you read this article.

Those who are in power positions should be held accountable for what they say to the public, whether in person or through social media, and called out when they give false narratives or simply tell a flat-out lie. Don't shoot the messenger but instead turn your anger to the source. When the people realize where the true power lives perhaps they will begin to utilize it. You do not owe corrupt politicians your vote and you do not owe your hard earned dollars to lying preachers. Stop the cash flow, empty the churches, and withhold your vote. When you stop feeding the monster it will have to make adjustments.
