Dear Donald: It not you, it's me.

I just think we need to see different leaders and take time away from each other.

Trump leaves a disappointing rally.

Donald John Trump: billion dollar mogul, celebrity game show host, and now: disgraced former president of the divided states of America. Ever since I saw you in 2015 go up on that debate stage and run your mouth like an extra from the film, Mean Girls, I was initially amused by your juvenile behavior. I thought that it would’ve been anyone.. Literally, anyone that would have beaten you in the primary. However, as time went on, my laughter turned into sorrow. It came down to you and Hillary in 2016 and to be quite honest, I didn’t want her either. She exhumed an air of entitlement that heavily fed into a system that thrived on political dynasties.

That day that you were elected, I was already numb to all of the volatile garbage that you emitted and how some of your die-hard supporters were willing to break their necks with the aggressive amount of mental gymnastics pledging their unwavering fealty to a man whose morals are as bankrupt as his many businesses. Still, I chose the path of objectivity and with great naivety, I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I did so when it came to not perpetuating existing conflicts overseas which contributed to international instability that compromised national security. However, when I gave you credit where it was due, you betrayed my confidence in your leadership by burying yourself in your own hubris.

Your Twitter account has made matters worse. Your tweets have ranged from “SAD!!” to borderline terrorism to cognitively dissonant. Within a 140 character limit, you have incited violence, hate, and all around shame for this divided nation. Your peddling of vaccines causing autism, for example, has made my disdain for you all the more personal. Your blindness to your reckless actions have put all of us in a state of fear, panic, and endless despair. When you were finally cast out of the avenues of social media, the internet celebrated what would become another chapter of your inevitable downfall.

March of 2020 brought what would be one the three infamous last straws of your reign as the mad king you carry yourself to be: The Coronavirus being declared as global pandemic. Throughout the beginning of the year, you, as well as many others in all fairness, played coy when it came to the disease. While I may understand that you did not want to cause mass panic, your neglecting of early action has had dire consequences that are still felt to this day. When you had an opportunity to call for calm as the crisis grew into escalation, you didn’t and worse yet, you as well as your fellow GOP stooges and the elitist corporate democrats decided to worsen the situation by politicizing it thus adding even more to our national divide. Your lack of leadership during this pandemic started to show even more.

Then, there was this past summer: The summer of endless protest and civil unrest. As I watched from my Twitter news feed as protests go awry and escalate, You watched the country engulf itself into flames from a bunker. I remember the day in DC when people were exercising their right as american citizens to protest in a civil and peaceful manner. I remember that one day when you instructed your foot soldiers to unleash tear gas on those who were asking for their parent, sibling, child, friend, or spouse of color to not be unjustly murdered. I remember when you did that despicable act for the sake of a photo-op with a bible as a signaling of unearned virtue towards the radical christians that make up a significant portion of your base. I remember how you further did damage to the christian community with this vile action and how you couldn’t even properly hold the thing. I also remember why I became an agnostic at the age of 19.

If your mishandling of a public health crisis or your labeling peaceful protesters as “Domestic Terrorists” were not the last straw before your eventual, much deserved loss, then perhaps that night in Ohio when you debated Biden was. You doubled down on your juvenile attitude and continued to embarrass yourself as well as all of us that night. While I was never fond of Biden and his slinging of derivative platitudes, he at least showcased some level of professionalism. Your need for superfluous chaos grew through the night as you kept interrupting your opponent like a bratty child. Hell, you even started debating with the moderator, Chris Wallace. Granted, he was grossly incompetent at his job but, you made matters worse. Even worse yet, you had an opportunity to turn things around by doing one simple thing: denounce white supremacy. All you had to do was denounce them and yet, you didn’t. In a matter of fact, you told them to “Stand back and stand by.” thus giving them a call to arms.

As I watch you depart from this powerful position, I leave with a feeling. Not of rage nor hatred but of pity: I leave to you nothing but a feeling of great sorrow for someone like you. Someone who could not cope with a humiliating defeat at the hands of old, decrepit, and bland former VP and a highly unpopular senator. Someone who couldn’t take a loss with dignity. Someone who continued to stoke the fire of every problem in this country. Someone who may have done a few things right but, but continues to do far too much wrong. Someone who eggs on their sycophantic peons to act more and more violent as time went on. With all of that said, it brings me great joy to leave you with just two words: “You’re Fired.”
