Best Cheap Online Clothes Stores

From One Broke Shopping Addict to Another

I buy clothes all the time—really, all the time. Every other week I have a new delivery, and it's terrible, but... I can't help it. So, over the time since I got a bank account and started this obsession, I've learned where I should and shouldn't buy from.

Do: Boohoo

They have a great choice of clothes, up-to-date fashion (Zendaya has a line, what's not to love?), and I've found that they have the most accurate and consistent sizing for me (I'm normally around a UK size 8). A tip: Sign up to their mailing list, and they'll tell you when they're having clearance sales—they genuinely start selling things from less than £2. I've spent so little on so many clothes by using those sales. Link here.

Don't: Romwe

This shop is so appealing, and I keep wanting to buy from it. They seem to be so much more up-to-date than any other shops, and there are so many clothes on there that seem to be exactly what I've been looking for for ages. But, as many many many people (friends, strangers, random people on the internet) have said, it's all a scam. It takes forever to arrive, is often a lot poorer quality than advertised, and often doesn't fit the sizing given. It's really not worth it (even if it is ridiculously cheap).

Do: ASOS

Everyone knows ASOS. For good reason, too. They have a wide variety of different brands all in one place and for cheap. They have good sales, too. Link here.

Don't: Shein

Pretty much the same as Romwe. I think they're run by the same company. Don't do it.

Do: Forever 21 and New Look

Same as both ASOS and Boohoo. They're both good brands with a good selection at normally good prices—and good sales. (I've found that when there's a countdown to the end of the sale, and the sale isn't that reduced, they normally reduce it even more at the end of the countdown.) Links: Forever 21 and New Look

Do: H&M

H&M is similar to the others, and very good, but I've found sometimes when shopping online with them that it can be slightly pricier than other shops, though that might just be the specific clothes I tend to look at. (I don't use H&M that much and don't tend to just aimlessly browse it—I only look at it when I'm looking for something very specific that's probably just more expensive.) So it's not worth ruling out, but keep that in mind. Link here.

Other than my collection of favourite shops to use, the best tip for cheap shopping is to know what you want. I've bought so many unnecessary things just because they were there, and I've bought so many clothes that I no longer wear because I didn't think it through properly. If you get a basket-load of clothes, let it sit there for at least a day and see how you feel after at least sleeping on it. Maybe even wait longer, until different items go on sale, and buy them all separately (if you really want them, they'd be worth the wait). Also, don't be afraid to complain or send items back. I had a pair of leggings that arrived with a hole in them. I tried to complain, but it just got so complicated that I gave up when I could've gotten a refund for them. Another pair of trousers arrived with the belt that they were supposed to come with missing, and I didn't complain and probably could've gotten a refund. I also have jeans and a dress that are slightly too small, but I can still wear them—they're just hard to get into and not that comfortable. It's not worth it; you'll never wear it. Just send them back.
