The dangers of the Internet

When people think of dangers on the internet , they think Dank Memes, Recycled Tiktoks, and the occasional Phishing sites, and etc. In truth those can be valid undesirable things on the internet, But what about the more psychological Dangers? In 2016 a study was given that 7.7 million people struggle with Mental illness, by the end of 2019 the numbers were 51 million. In this article Im going to uncover the hidden dangers of the Internet and how it creates mental illness

Lets take Pornography for example,

1. It creates a Distortion for the viewer it plays on the Primal instincts. The viewer then starts to see (in this case women) as just a mean to sexual pleasure.

2. It causes psychological conflict when speaking to people. You feel guilty and ashamed for something that happened and creates a split in your pysche between Past and Present.

3. It creates un unhealthy addiction , and by definition, a dependence upon a particular condition

This is caused because of the Illusive and easily accessability of the internet. It is no wonder that the porn industry is 97 billion industry

Isolation has a big thing to do with it

Studies have been shown that the number one cause of mental illness comes from Isolation. Studies have also shown that spending time outside and Contact with the Nature has profound affects on improving a persons mental state.

What if the internet didnt exist?

For starters, we wouldnt feel the need to compare ourselves to others through mediums like Instagram , Facebook, Twitter, because there would be nothing to compare to.

We also wouldnt be so consumed in our own thinking, because like the previous, we would'nt need to compare ourselves we would be able to just be present and enjoy our lives fully without artificial stimuli, indirectly affecting our deciscions.

And third, we would be more resourceful. Its a fact, older generations didnt have this much technology at their hands, so they had to develop themselves, they needed to take Action, and be resourceful.

Now to the millenial this may not even make any sense

"Yeah , Yeah Tahj , Just pipe down im on Tiktok"

So the point is this

We cant solve our life problems by searching on the internet. The idea that the internet has the answer, to anything in your life hs been blown up to an extreme proportion. with quotes like "google it" and "look it up". The deeper answers to life arent on the internet but inside of us.

HERE ARE SOME PROVEN WAYS TO BEAT ISOLATION

1. GO OUTSIDE

Just do it. Studies have shown effective it is at helping cognitions in the brain , spend 30 minutes min outside and you should start feeling better mentally

2. Join a class / or gathering (in person for god sake)

3. Stay off the internet

We our prisoners in our own environment and dont even realize it. In this time peace of mind is the most important thing, so we have to put that first and spend most of our time active outside

CONCLUSION

The internet is a useful tool. It can help us promote our business to a worldwide audience, and an assortment of other useful things. But like my grandma once told me "Too much of anything is a bad thing" I believe that system so vast with information should be used in moderation to get its best usage. There is no denying that the internet can give us really good information , but it was never intended to consume us and our thinking. Therefore we are to do our own thinking, and take our own actions, and remember that the Internet is only a tool
