Hemp oil is being touted as a modern day miracle wonder that benefits those dealing with various medical and mental health issues. This product is alleged to improve cognitive function, protect the brain, ease anxiety, and help those diagnosed with depression. The oil derived from the plant that yields marijuana is also said to deliver good fats, balance cholesterol levels, improve blood pressure and help those who deal with certain epilepsy symptoms. This article will deal with studies related to the effect of this natural remedy on three specific issues, which are menopausal symptoms, pain, and inflammation.

It is important to understand that Hemp oil does not contain THC, which is the compound that creates the ‘high’ feeling when marijuana is smoked. If you are looking to get a buzz from this product, you will be disappointed. Hemp oil has all the benefits but not the ingredient that makes the product illegal. Marijuana and hemp both come from the Cannabis sativa plant. In order to make hemp oil the ripe seeds of the plant are cold pressed. If you are disappointed that you cannot enjoy Hemp oil the same way as when you smoke weed, please keep something important in mind, The extracts from the plant that go into Hemp oil, retains the painkilling properties of the cannabis plant. There are a number of ways this oil contributes to natural pain relief.

The omega-3 components of hemp oil have been shown to reduce inflammation, because of its anti-inflammatory properties. This is very beneficial for those who suffer from chronic pain and inflammation. The same is true of those recovering from temporary muscle injuries that have become inflamed. A study done in 2011 revealed that hemp oil can also reduce pain and uncomfortable symptoms that often plague menopausal women. When utilizing the oil from the hemp plant, please keep in mind that it is not a one size fits all. Read instructions on the product and follow them carefully. Always make sure your health care provider knows about any supplements you are using and check to be certain they do not interfere with any prescription medications that you use.

A 2011 study indicated that the omega-3 fatty acids in the diet as well as those in hemp oil are beneficial for reducing inflammation. The study also revealed that different people have varied results when adding omega-3 fatty acids to the diet and also using hemp oi. Inflammation is a process that can wreak havoc on the body and cause serious pain and discomfort. If the inflammatory processes continue over a period of time, there may be damage in various areas of the body. The study pointed out that chronic health conditions can be caused or exacerbated because of inflammation. Someone who experiences chronic pain and inflammation might benefit from hemp oil or other dietary supplements that are rich in omega-3s.

Overdose of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids

As with all supplementation products, hemp oil does have a number of possible side effects. Too much of this natural remedy can cause an overdose of polyunsaturated fats. The very thing that makes this so beneficial, the omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids can put at risk for cancer, cardiac dysfunction, and bacterial infections if you ingest too much of them.

Psychoative reaction

Although this is rare, people who are highly sensitive may experience a psychotropic effect and actually feel as if they are high. If this happens to you, or you have any change in your perception please discontinue the hemp oil and contact your health care professional immediately.

Interfere with blood clotting

If you’re taking blood pressure medications in combination with hemp oil, the effects of the medication may be reduced, or completely eliminated. This will greatly decrease your bloods ability to clot. This is why it is so important to make sure your doctor is aware of any supplementation.

Digestive issues

Hemp oil may also cause digestive problems in some individuals. The problems that may occur are acid reflux, stomach cramps, nausea, and diarrhea.

Harmful peroxides

If hemp oil is over heated, there is the danger of harmful, toxic peroxides forming. In small amounts there is no problem, but again the trouble comes with using too much of this product.

Interaction with the metabolism of prescription medications

Prescription drugs can lose their effectiveness if you are taking hemp oil. This is because the oil can interfere with the metabolism of prescription drugs. Again, it is a must that you let your health care provider know about any and all natural cures, home remedies, and supplements that you are using.
