YOU

The memory left behind...

Your face has been erased by the many new ones that followed.

Yet it stands out the most in a crowded room.

I feel the absence of your touch.

But I'm comforted by the familiar scent that reflects your embrace.

Your vacant eyes haunt my memories.

But when I see the shades from beneath your stare I'm consumed with hidden smiles.

Your voice has been silent for far too long.

However, your words drown out the lyrics that sing to me.

I crave your attention just to see your face.

But my emotions are clouded by your betrayal you left me to face.

A lifetime of sacrifice I would have given to you.

Though a moment alone was too much in return.

Sickened by the grief I still gave myself to you.

Sleepless this heartache still tears me apart.

Ravenous it feasts.

Merciful I pray.

Hopeless are these memories.

Now dead and laid to rest.
