Stories start the same from the first page of the chapter,
building toward a conflict and introducing a villain and hero.
Interesting stories leave little for laughter,
and story lovers hope that their hero doesn't end as a zero.
All the stories start the same
as the hero's story begins to play.
Like coming out onto the field for the big game,
but the story is always covered by skies so gray.
Each story reads just for a while
hoping the heroes get it right.
A hero must walk a lonely mile
always being in the midst of a great fight.
The struggles the hero suffers are real,
and the longer the struggle the more prolific the hero's song.
Even our heroes suffer and feel,
and our heroes can sometimes get it wrong.
Heroes all share a common reality,
they all come with a story that ends.
Doing it long enough it'll become your specialty,
or you'll end up the bad guy with very few friends.
Heroes need heroes in the midst of their gloom
because they have nobody to turn to toward the end of their glory.
Won't somebody save the hero before they face their doom,
a hero needs saving before they end their story.
For heroes rise,
and heroes will fall.
It often happens before our own eyes,
yet we could have helped with just a call.
So check on your heroes
and don't presume it's all right.
Be there for them in their woes,
before they face that last lonely night.
