Why don't you come with me?

"...and if this your final destination, Welcome home."

Vast open skies sigh as they stretch across unseen distances. Where the heart is inside my chest is not where the home is. The four wells I left behind is not where the heart is. Wings outside my window touch the soft edges of pillowy clouds. Fleeing far from cliche in another language I settle into another culture.

Foamy white swells lick the earth where the deep meets the surface. Sea breeze hits our noses while salt in the air nips at our tongues. We're far from where we came from but near to where we're going. We're getting to know these faces - we're all wanting to be known.

"...The seatbelt sign has been turned off..."

A new journey on a continuous adventure. New characters are introduced while old ones stay strong. But we are not the main characters.

Others are different somehow, a bit jaded by the storms and sadly a little faded.

Their character development in the story is just so.

Laughter is filling the fireplace inside our souls as we sit in the safety of community, away from the disaster of the starvation that comes from loneliness.

We celebrate new and exciting ventures. We call out the hidden gems.

These four walls I left were not where my heart was. And yet here I am in this place. Where my heart is. One new sight to see another new city to explore.

All quite different and a little quirky inside and out. Not normal. That's just the way it should be.

It is stretching me, knowing me, welcoming me in. Not narcissistic. Am I home?

"...you are free to move around the cabin..."

Around a table. We were strangers and now family. Intimacy over food and drink.

Telling stories and sharing what we think. What we feel. What we hope and what we seek.

Not in languages that are our own and not in rooms we are well known. Surely not in our comfort zones.

But here we are on top of the world. "on top of the world! Hey!"

We stop to look up at the great expanse; we stand in awe.

And in the thick of the woods, between the trees you can see what we see.

What we see are our visions and our dreams. What we see is a love with no condition. A compassion with no strings.

These four walls I left are not my home.

Amongst these hands we’ve touched life and with these eyes we’ve all seen death. We mourn and we celebrate. Together we’ve got scars, wounds, and beating hearts once in the womb.

Safe and sound - the home we found. We're all a little broken - a stain glass token. When we sit here we show our colors, the masterpiece we were once afraid to show others.

It's not shame anymore nor is it a barrier so we boast in our in weakness. "we are glorious!"

We go from town to town exploring and finding the ones with age and glory. Smiles on their faces because they’ve got healing in once deeply wounded places. They share their wisdom and life lessons for tomorrow. What they learned yesterday is what they breathe today. They smile without regret. They share in stories of love that they'll never forget.

Sharing and loving the life they are living.

These four walls I left are not my home.

"...as we start our decent , please make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position..."

The night comes to greet us. A different bed, a different place, a different decorated space. Not like the others but still the same. "Same same but different."

As we drift off in reflection I know I am home. Foxes have holes. Birds have nests. These four walls I left were not my home.

"Now, we request your full attention as the flight attendants demonstrate the safety features on this aircraft."

See the world and come home with me. Around this table with food and drink. There will be stories to tell and we will share what we think. What we feel and what we hope and what we seek. A glass of wine, a cup of tea, a fireplace and a place to stay. At the end of the day we will have a new group of strangers to call family.

It's these four walls and those four walls and the walls within my chest. We'll travel the world, taste and hear new things.

We'll close our eyes here but we will wake up over there. Fond memories piling high. We're not on the last leg of this adventure, trust me there is far more than you can fathom.

Remember.

We're jumping onto different transportation. Behind a wheel through mountains and hills.

"...no need to keep your arms and legs in at all times..."

Rivers unwind to meet the sea. We float on our backs to see what we can see. Far beyond our adventures lie. Our journey is just starting and we’re only just miles high.

Miles and miles of black stretched out carpet along the roads we watch trees, mountains, and cattle go by in an instant.

Like being in a movie on our way to the next best thing. Sometimes it’s just the getting there that absolutely exhilarating.

The playlists on point and deep conversation. The silly road signs and road aggravation. Giant trucks, tiny bikes cars full of family and some solo stars. All going somewhere, everywhere, anywhere but here.

The new faces we see and the new destination.

Again, around a table with food and drink. Telling our stories and sharing what we think. What we hope for, what we feel, and what we seek.

Our hearts connect, we’re strangers no more. Those four walls I left were not my home.

A kiss and a wave. We'll stay in touch, sometimes we'll drift away but we'll never fade.

We’ll move on somewhere new but we smile and we cry since it’s never easy to say goodbye. We’re going but our hearts yearning and groaning. We will move on knowing our family is only growing.

Seat D3, Terminal 1, Customs, and Baggage Claim.

"Today is going to be a full flight folks..."

Roar of the engine. We're going up and over.

We’re home when we’re moving.

Come explore the world and see.

Why don’t you come home with me?
