White & Black/New Romance
A collaborative poem of color By Quinn Patrick & Melissa Ingoldsby
First part/Black
I absorb all light,
I am the deepest sensation of being,
I carry lightness with a deep experience,
A deep expression of sound,
A sound that is like the largest bell
Echoing in the milky black night
You may envy me
Black is sophisticated
Black is smart
It’s better to see me cloaking your
Lightness
Than a dozen colors to make you bleed that life blood of richness,
Black is beautiful
Black is brilliant
It’s not even on the spectrum,
Because it’s too creative
To link to any basic hue.
Second part/White
She’s just there
Void in color
Lacking in creativity
Something to draw, write, or color upon
Providing the foundation for beauty to seep on
She’s just there
A reminder that you can always start over
Blank pages are new foundations
Of dreams, giving a subtle hope that beginnings are as magical as they seem
She’s just there
Reminding that whiteness is always around ready to absorb what it cannot hold down
On its own
But it has shown
She’s always there
White
Void
Of
Life
But
Providing
The
Foundation
For
Dreams
Hopes
And
Aspirations
~
She whispers from her stillness
“I’m ready for your color
Mix your beauty on me
Make me like no other
I’m your Nefertiti
Your foundation
To your greatness
Let me provide
My whiteness
My pureness
Draw me
close to your side”
Third part/New Romance; Grey
Will your color mix well with mine?
Will it take on a new form?
A new dream?
A shadow or a twist of light and brilliance?
So many questions,
An answer in grey.
We create something different
We can be somewhere new.
Hidden in our mixed color,
We find the best in our natural state
In ourselves
In each other
A color that isn’t visible
It’s underneath the streams, dabbled in a
Great masterpiece, titled
White & Black/New Romance.
Grey, like the shadow of the moon,
Where we all came from,
Dust and grey
And black and white,
The spaces between twinkling milky white
And silent, deep black,
There is the chasm of grey hidden in between
Silent and watching,
Waiting for us to meet
We forgot how to talk to space,
To whisper to the moon (what do you wish to tell us? Of our existence in this grey, flat shadow of life?)
It’s whirling phantasm
Seeps into each color,
It’s imaginary light
Giving us
life.

Amazing description of the non-color hues of life. A poem to be returned to and savored again...
