People will say “why can’t you get over them, just move on. They don’t understand that it’s not about letting the person or people go, or not even about moving on. It’s the flashbacks and nightmares from what was done to you that won’t let you go. So what do you do? You sit with the pain, you feel it, you acknowledge it, then you get through the rest of your day the best you can. You focus on healing, and when you’re tempted to try and numb the pain, remember that will only last for so long. So you tap into your willpower and resilience. You honor your feelings, and remember to hold on because pain eventually ends. Your scars will be a badge you wear to show yourself and the world, you were strong enough.
