What is the saddest thing you’ve ever seen?

Disheartened father's desperation

Every day between 9:20 and 9:25 in the morning, I ride the elevator in our apartment building, and during that time, I always notice the lift operator sitting anxiously, fixated on his phone without even glancing up. Intrigued by his behavior, I decided to ask him about what he was looking at on his phone. He confided in me that he eagerly waits for the clock to strike 9:30. You see, he does this because he wants to call his daughter, who recently got married. Unfortunately, his son-in-law disapproves of their communication, so he patiently waits until 9:30 when his son-in-law leaves for work. At that moment, he seizes the opportunity to check in with his daughter and ensure everything was alright the previous day.

The saddest thing is to watch a disheartened father's desperation to know the whereabouts of his daughter.
