We Burn

Face to Face

We simmer

Beneath a façade

In calmed moment

As we banter within,

Deciding upon face

To reveal

To those watching

To those waiting.

A constant presence

Awaiting a downfall

Relishing the destruction

Of another face

Another shadow

Another growing light,

As they entertain

Passing thoughts

Bullets on a monitor

The flashes of

What could have been.

We simmer

In between

Light and dark

Truth and lie,

Wondering

Wondering

Wondering

Who we will be

Who we are

In the eyes of those

Watching

Watching

Watching.

We burn

In the moments

In the in-between

Where sinners meet saints

And our questions

Become answers

We burn

With the knowledge

Of another passing day

Another wonder.

We burn

And relish the heat,

Where those watching

Are devoured.
