War

poem

Desolate lands in which the dead dwell beneath

A timid fear a land where none would dare to speak

Where time is senseless swept away amongst the weeks

Bloodied hands filthy from fallen enemies

A scarlet sea slippery from slain foes

Deceased people who also had dreams and hopes

Holding onto their deaths a single mind could never wish to cope

Watching lives fade like waning smoke

Ahead on the road torn with war

Plenty have died but there's forever more

Burgundy barring one from seeing further

When it all end there's always another

Hatred is born in order to protect love

Mans only hope may seem from above

But the reaper marches on as life crumbles to dust

While angels weep in sorrow at humans mistrust

Red stains dye the blade just for authorities success

Never seeing the scars from such horrific death

Never struggling as it's hard to take a breath

Makes it easy to judge as one crumbles mentally

However we march on until none is left

Pain inside your chest because you're alive

Pain inside your mind guilty knowing your loved ones didn't survive

Having to face the world when inside you've already died

Thoughts traveling through the brain

Wondering if there's anything else you could've tried

As a soldier you're forever strong and must never hide

The only solution to end all pain must be suicide

When people ask how you feel you say fine

When in your head you know you're lying

However you tell yourself what's the point in even trying

If only the world could see the depth behind the flag flying
