Walls

Progressively speaking

At the start I was walls up,

A knight in full armor.

A night sky choked in clouds which

Wrapped around my throat,

Either trying to kill me or

Protect me.

I’m still not sure which.

In the middle I was walls down.

Drawbridge lowered, chainmail off.

Stars so bright they held every answer

You could ever hope to find.

Darkness soft as water,

Firm as an old friend's embrace.

Loved, respected. Safe.

At the end I was walls back up,

But the armor had gone missing.

A knight with no shield.

A night with no atmosphere, no more clouds

To hold me steady.

Gladly stripped raw by loving you but

Hating every second after.
