Voices Pt. I

They scream, louder than any other cry.

But all you can really do is try,

To push through and make it okay,

Try again for a better day.

It's never fair, this state of mind,

It hasn't really been too kind.

You've worked hard to get where you are,

They make you think you haven't gotten far.

You take a step forward, they try to pull you back.

They try to make you think of everything you lack.

They remind you you're just no good,

You think worse than you should.

But life hasn't completely brought you down.

You stood your way up from the ground.

You chose not to give up,

Slowly looking at the half filled cup.

You chose to look them in the eye,

You chose to listen carefully to their cries.

You chose to hear the pain,

To look at what more you can gain,

From all the wrongs they try to give,

You counter it with all the reasons to live.

You think maybe it's worth all the tears,

Maybe it's all worth big, small fears.

You conquer the screams to turn into breeze,

Nothing really comes with ease.

Although the time may come again,

It doesn't have to be the way things end.

You have to see how well you can do,

Not what you can't, and ignore the truth,

That you are brighter than any shining light,

That you are brave for always putting up a fight.

It may take time to get used to,

But that's how I know I grew.

So don't listen to anyone's shame,

Not theirs, not yourself to blame.

Always remember, you're doing good enough,

When these times are getting rough.

You can chose to bleed or cover the cut,

And get yourself out of the rut.

Do things for yourself once more,

But please don't keep a locked door.

Do what you thought you could never do,

Don't be them, just be you.
