Nighttime in the city

Nightfall approaches the city

Illuminated sidewalks

Headlights shine across the streets

But does anyone acknowledge the night?

Because the sidewalks are filled with people’s chatter

Music blares from some grand venue

Silence? Nonexistent in this lively place

Hasn’t the city noticed that night has stepped into view?

Quiet. Solitude. Darkness. Sleep.

Oh, what I long for the night should be!

The city scene is full of life

Noise. Crowds. Bright city lights. People wide awake.

It’s the nighttime, can’t they see?

Close the windows! Draw the blinds! You, who desires sleep.

Maybe if you’re lucky amongst the glow of the city’s lights

You’ll catch a glimpse of the moon. Just maybe a star

For the city is the most bright and lively at the arrival of the night.
