a poem about the war in my mind

Today is a new day, or is it yesterdays leftover

My emotions scramble into one

I pray for change yet all my cries do is bounce off the tumbling walls of my mind

I’m frightened of myself

Going through the valley- who will be at my side when the darkness reveals itself and the wolves feast

I venture on with the commitment to the journey

The boy is gone and all that remains are the skin and bones trudging along

He’s not one of us, they whisper

The conspirators move from in front of me to sit on my shoulder

My preparations for the road were never enough

Hardship was inevitable but is the day too long for me, the cause too great, me too frail

Only time will tell
