Two Sides of the Mirror
A self-love poem. Pass this onto someone who needs it.
I thought I lost her. I left her there somewhere in a dark hole. Feeling empty and numb.
The only time she felt something was when the guilt set in.
When the shame she put on herself was too much.
The mirror she looked into through blurred vision told her she was nobody. A stranger.
I buried her deeper, hoping she never saw the light. She didn’t deserve it.
Somehow in the cold dark cave I isolated her in, she began to rise. She clawed and screamed. She told me to fuck off.
She is good enough. She deserves love. She can have more. She is brave. She is beautiful. She has purpose.
With tears brimming my eyes, I stared at my reflection in the mirror and said: “You’re right.” ❤️
