Two-sided Mind

A Poem by Mark Hogans II

My mind has two sides

Not talking left and right

One side that wants to love

The other wants to fight

The one side is broken

It always causes pain

No matter how much I wish it gone

It comes right back again

It takes the place of the side that’s good

It shoves it down below

Then spews out lies, despite my cries

Such sadness does it sow

Each day I fight this darkness

Searching for the light

Someday soon I hope to be

Back to left and right
